Wood Schools iPad distribution begins

PARKERSBURG – Despite a rainy start to the week, officials Monday distributed the first of thousands of student iPads to area families.

Distribution will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at each school with pickups available Monday and Wednesday for students whose last names begin with the letters A-K, and on Tuesday and Thursday for those with last names beginning L-Z.

The tablets are pre-configured for individual students and come with a case for grades K-8 and a keyboard case for grades 9-12. Each iPad is bundled with a charger and a label with the individual student’s ID number, login information and passwords for Schoology, email, Apple ID and Clever.

Parents and students are asked to wear masks and maintain social distance when possible while picking up a tablet. If a parent cannot pick up an iPad during the provided times and dates, they may contact the school directly to arrange a pick up time.

To receive an iPad, both a student and a parent/guardian must sign an Acceptable Use Policy which governs use of the technology. Students do not have to be present to pick up the iPad if their parent/guardian brings the AUP signed by the student. The AUP must also be signed by someone on the student’s emergency contact list before the iPad is provided. The policy for grades k-2 can be found at https://5il.co/hx3i and the policy for grades 3-12 can be found at https://5il.co/hx3h

Students return to classes Sept. 8 on a staggered schedule, which includes instruction five days a week.  Students attend on campus two (2) days per week and engage in learning off campus three (3) days per week.
