Wood BOE reviewing facilities plan

PARKERSBURG - The Wood County Board of Education has begun a review of a proposed 10-year facilities plan for Wood County Schools.

Officials presented the plan during a public hearing Tuesday evening at Jefferson Elementary Center. The Comprehensive Education Facilities Plan, or CEFP, would help guide facility use from 2020-30, including all upgrades and new construction, as well as closure and consolidation of schools.

The draft plan calls for construction of four new schools and reducing the total number of buildings in Wood County Schools from 24 to 20. The plan also outlines how each phase of construction and improvements would be funded through state and local dollars.

A Power Point summary of the plan can be found on the Wood County Schools website at www.woodcountyschoolswv.com under Menu: CEFP 2020-2030 Presentation.

The CEFP will be up for discussion and approval at the school board’s Oct. 27 meeting.
