Gov. Justice issues executive orders

West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice has announced several executive orders which will affect schools and school-related activities.

During the Friday, Nov. 13, COVID-19 briefing, Justice announced all schools, public and private, would remain closed from Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26, through the following Thursday, Dec. 3. Wood County Schools Thanksgiving break runs from Nov. 23-27. 

The governor announced all winter sports would be delayed until Jan. 11, including any sports which already have begun for the winter season. Justice said fall sports would be allowed to complete their seasons.

Justice also announced all spring band festivals would be cancelled and all band concerts are cancelled for the remainder of the school year.
