Field Day will be Monday May 22nd with the rain date May 23rd. Please send your child that day in play clothes that can get dirty, tennis shoes (no sandals), and sunscreen. You may also send a towel and a change of clothes since we will have water activities. We want to remind parents and guardians that for several years now, parents have not attended field day and that will continue this year. This is a celebration day for students and staff. Wood County Schools’ top priority is the safety of our students. With a schoolwide field day, it is too difficult to monitor doors, all the parents at once, as well as it is very congested in the station areas and parking. We love having parent volunteers, as well as fun times interacting with our student’s families, during other events. Looking forward to next year, we want to remind you of all the opportunities you have to be an important part of Criss Elementary. Volunteer opportunities so far for next year: WV Read Aloud (read to classes), 2 week-long bookfairs, Secret Santa, PTA events. Events to attend with your child include Halloween Party (will be like the St. Patrick’s Day party this year), St. Patrick’s Day Party, Christmas programs for both primary and intermediate, Pastries with Parents, end-of-the year grade level recognition, and skating parties. We also have several other events in the works. If you would like to be a volunteer, please make sure you get your background check. This will be MANDATORY for all volunteers. You can go to https://securevolunteer.com/WOOD-COUNTY-SCHOOLS/choose-screen, to apply for a background check and be ready to get started next year. Let’s have a safe and wonderful end to the 2022/2023 school year! We look forward to seeing you at our grade-level recognitions at the end of the month.
