We are joining the West Virginia Department of Education in supporting our Military Kids! Monday, April 15th, is Military Monday! Wear clothing supporting your favorite military branch. Tuesday, April 16th, is Crazy Camo Day! Wear your favorite camo. Wednesday, April 17th, is Red, White, and Blue Day! Wear red, white, and blue to support our military families. Thursday, April 18th, is RED Day! Wear red to remember everyone deployed. Friday, April 19th, is Purple Up Day! Wear purple in honor of military kids! Team Altruismo is sponsoring a "Black Out" to celebrate and educate about the Solar Eclipse tomorrow, April 8th. This event will be a Brave House Competition! Whatever house has the most students dress in black shirts (not black ON the shirt, IN a black shirt) will win this Brave House Competition. Additionally, we have crafts and activities planned throughout the day with the focus on educating about UV rays. We look forward to seeing our Braves at school tomorrow! Buses may be delayed this morning due to high water in several areas across the county. We appreciate your patience as we work to safely pick up and deliver students this morning.

All Wood County Schools after-school and evening activities will be CANCELLED tonight (Tuesday, April 2, 2024) due to incoming inclement weather. Schools will dismiss at their normal times today.

Fundraising materials were sent home from school today and are due back on April 8th. All proceeds go towards our Positive Behavior Fund. Tomorrow, March 19th, is the last day to donate to the Parkersburg Humane Society. Thank you for your support with this project.! Spring group and individual pictures are postponed until April 11th. Calendar update: In order to account for missed school days due to inclement weather, students will now attend school on May 31 as well as June 3 and 4. Preschool will attend May 28 and 29. For staff, June 5 will be a curriculum development day (students do not attend) and June 6 will be a day to prepare for the end of the school year (students do not attend).

Additionally, they will be completing the official GSA writing portion on March 5th. We look forward to this opportunity for our Braves. Our expectation is exceptional attendance, effort, and achievement. Thank you for helping us get them prepared! Pre-Kindergarten enrollment begins next Monday, March 4th. IMPORTANT UPDATE: The Wood County Board of Education will meet in special session Monday, Feb. 12, 2024, to conduct candidate interviews and appoint an interim board member to a vacant seat. The board has consulted with the Wood County Prosecutor’s Office and the Wood County Clerk’s Office and has been advised, due to election cycle deadlines, a selection must be made by February 12, 2024. The online application period for those interested in applying for the interim position will close at 5 p.m. on Monday, February 12. The board meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. to announce the candidates and interviews will begin at 6:00 p.m. An appointment announcement will follow the completion of the interviews on February 12. Those submitting an application by Sunday, February 11, will be informed of their interview time before 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 12. Applicants submitting applications on Monday, February 12, will be contacted as applications are received throughout the day to have interviews arranged for that evening.
