Due to inclement weather conditions, including snow and ice on roadways, particularly on less-traveled back roads, and ongoing safety concerns with parking lots, Wood County Schools will be closed on Monday, January 26.
This decision was made with the safety of our students, families, and staff as our highest priority. Difficult travel conditions and icy surfaces create unsafe conditions for buses, drivers, and pedestrians, and we believe closure is the most responsible course of action.
We appreciate your understanding and encourage families to continue monitoring district communications for any additional updates.

Kanawha Families,
Many of our students received some exciting new devices over the break. We want to remind families of the WCS Electronic Devices Policy adopted in August of 2025. Elementary School students may bring phones, ipads, watches, etc. to school. However, they are not permitted to use and/or display them at any time during the school day. They must be powered off and placed in students’ backpacks before entering the school and must remain in students’ backpacks for the entire school day. We appreciate your help in helping our students remained focused on learning while they are at school.
