Wood County Schools is reporting a disruption in service with its mass communication provider, which is currently preventing the district from directly contacting parents of students enrolled in summer school programs. As a result, families are being notified through alternative channels, including Rooms in the Wood County Schools app, the WCS News website, district social media platforms, and local media outlets.

Due to the ongoing fire at the Peoples Cartage, Inc. Warehouse and the potential impact on local air quality, all Wood County Schools summer programs will be canceled for tomorrow.

This includes PSHS and PHS summer school classes, Extended School Year at South, Summer School at Jefferson, Jump Start at Emerson, Energy Express and Summer Speech at Martin. In addition, the Summer Feeding Program will not operate tomorrow.

The district emphasizes that this decision was made out of an abundance of caution to ensure the health and safety of students, staff, and families.

Wood County Schools appreciates the community’s understanding and cooperation as conditions continue to be monitored in coordination with local safety officials.
