Criss Elementary Friendly Reminder: Today is the day to turn in our hot roll fundraiser forms.
Criss Families: Yearbooks are on sale until Monday, March 22. We have a limited order in this year so please pre-order. There will be no guarantee we will have extras. Yearbooks are $15 each or $20 with personalization. If your child is still attending WV Learns Virtual platform for this school year and you would like to have their photo in the yearbook, please submit a head to shoulder photo to Mrs. Carpenter at jrcarpenter@k12.wv.us by Friday, March 17. If you have fun photos of your child during blended or remote learning days, send them to Mrs. Carpenter as well. Last, fifth grade ads were due March 12 BUT we are extending this deadline to Monday, March 22. Send money to school and email Mrs. Carpenter with your message and photos. $25 for 1/4 page, $40 for half page and $70 for full page. Checks are to be made out to Criss Elementary.

Criss Elementary: We sincerely apologize, but there was a misprint on our monthly newsletter. SPRING BREAK IS MARCH 29 - APRIL 2. Please disregard the dates on the newsletter.
We want to thank the 3rd and 4th grade parents for your patience as we work out an efficient and safe pick-up. We appreciate how you are lining up and we are now loading students 3 cars at a time. Please remind your child to look for you and let us know when they see your car. This helps the line move faster. We also want to give you a second pick-up option. If you do not mind parking and getting out of your car, you may park in the back Kroger parking lot or on Fairview and pick your child up at the sidewalk on the school side. Students are not allowed to cross the main road by themselves. We will continue to work on adjustments as needed. Again, thank you for your patience.
Criss Elementary: Kindergarten Registration is this week. Please sign up your child if they are eligible for Kindergarten next year. Registration this week will determine if we have 1 or 2 kindergarten teachers next year.
Criss Elementary Basketball Update (2/19): Boys' Basketball tryouts will be TODAY from 5:30 - 7:30. Girls' Basketball Tryouts will be MONDAY from 3:00 - 4:30.
Criss Elementary Basketball Tryouts Rescheduled: If there is in-person school tomorrow, Thursday 2/18, Girls' Basketball Tryouts will be from 3:00 - 4:40 and Boys' Basketball Tryouts will be from 5:30 - 7:30 for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders.

Just a reminder, our new 3rd and 4th grade pickup procedures will begin TOMORROW, Wednesday the 10th. Your child should have brought a flier home today or yesterday. What we are doing now is not working so we have to try something else to be more efficient and safe. We will have staff outside to guide and assist you. Pre-kindergarten enrollment for 2021/2022 School Year is the week of February 8, 2021. Please contact the school if you are unsure what you need to bring to register.
To maintain a healthy environment for students and staff, when you come to school, please follow these guidelines:
1. One adult only
2. No children
3. Wear a mask.
4. Temperature will be checked prior to entering the building.
5. Go directly to the cafeteria.
6. Exit building as soon as registration is completed.

Criss Elementary: The 3rd, 4th and 5th grade BOYS and GIRLS
basketball season will BOTH begin the week of February 15th. Boys and Girls basketball will run at the same time. Basketball will be a 5-week season beginning March 1st. There will be 2 games per week with a tournament at the conclusion of the season. Spectators at games will be limited to 2 per player.
***Tryouts and practices are closed to parents.
*** During the season, after the first game, the gym will be completely vacated before the players and spectators can enter for the next game.
*** Students must have a 2.0 grade point average to play.
*** Virtual and Distance learners are allowed to try out and play for the team if you are enrolled in Criss Elementary.
If your child is interested in playing, the sign-up forms can be printed from the school's website or facebook page. Sign-Up forms will also come home from school tomorrow.
Specific dates and times and further information will be on the form coming home.
Criss Elementary: Today is a FULL REMOTE DAY where teachers report to school but students stay home! Since we are departmentalized from 1st grade up, ALL students should log into their homeroom TEAMS meeting at 10 AM for either Math or Reading. AT 1 PM, ALL students should log into the other grade level teacher for the opposite subject. All Kindergarten students need to log into TEAMS with their homeroom teacher at 10 AM. New content will be taught today, so it is important your child attends these meetings so they do not miss instruction of new material. If you have any questions, please call the office.
