As part of Teacher Appreciation Week, I want to take a moment to personally say ‘Thank You’ to all of Wood County Schools’ selfless and dedicated educators.
This has been one of the most challenging school years in recent history. Our teachers have not only endured nearly impossible tasks but have risen to the challenge and have continued to place our students first. Our teachers and personnel have dedicated countless hours keeping students engaged, providing support and care to families, and giving our children a beacon of normalcy in an often turbulent and uncertain world. The work you do each day is more appreciated than you will ever know.
Wood County Schools is blessed to have so many caring and dedicated teachers, and I want all of you to know: We see what you are doing and what you have done, and we are thankful you are here.

Criss Elementary Friendly Reminder: Today is the day to turn in our hot roll fundraiser forms.
Criss Families: Yearbooks are on sale until Monday, March 22. We have a limited order in this year so please pre-order. There will be no guarantee we will have extras. Yearbooks are $15 each or $20 with personalization. If your child is still attending WV Learns Virtual platform for this school year and you would like to have their photo in the yearbook, please submit a head to shoulder photo to Mrs. Carpenter at jrcarpenter@k12.wv.us by Friday, March 17. If you have fun photos of your child during blended or remote learning days, send them to Mrs. Carpenter as well. Last, fifth grade ads were due March 12 BUT we are extending this deadline to Monday, March 22. Send money to school and email Mrs. Carpenter with your message and photos. $25 for 1/4 page, $40 for half page and $70 for full page. Checks are to be made out to Criss Elementary.

Criss Elementary: We sincerely apologize, but there was a misprint on our monthly newsletter. SPRING BREAK IS MARCH 29 - APRIL 2. Please disregard the dates on the newsletter.
We want to thank the 3rd and 4th grade parents for your patience as we work out an efficient and safe pick-up. We appreciate how you are lining up and we are now loading students 3 cars at a time. Please remind your child to look for you and let us know when they see your car. This helps the line move faster. We also want to give you a second pick-up option. If you do not mind parking and getting out of your car, you may park in the back Kroger parking lot or on Fairview and pick your child up at the sidewalk on the school side. Students are not allowed to cross the main road by themselves. We will continue to work on adjustments as needed. Again, thank you for your patience.
Criss Elementary: Kindergarten Registration is this week. Please sign up your child if they are eligible for Kindergarten next year. Registration this week will determine if we have 1 or 2 kindergarten teachers next year.
Criss Elementary Basketball Update (2/19): Boys' Basketball tryouts will be TODAY from 5:30 - 7:30. Girls' Basketball Tryouts will be MONDAY from 3:00 - 4:30.
Criss Elementary Basketball Tryouts Rescheduled: If there is in-person school tomorrow, Thursday 2/18, Girls' Basketball Tryouts will be from 3:00 - 4:40 and Boys' Basketball Tryouts will be from 5:30 - 7:30 for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders.
