JUNIOR PARENTS

Attention Junior parents… Jostens was at the high school today and did a presentation to your student about ordering a class ring and a letterman jacket. Jostens has a special that will expire September 30th where most of the rings are greatly reduced. Many rings are 50% off. Your ring or jacket can be designed, ordered, and payment plans set up on www.jostens.com. If you have any questions, please call Jostens at 681-235-3138.

SENIOR PARENTS

Attention senior parents… Jostens was at the high school today and handed out information to your student about ordering their supplies for graduation. It is important to try to get this taken care of in the next few weeks at www.jostens.com. We are trying to get all orders turned in so PHS can get an early spring delivery so you can use your cap and gown for your senior pictures! Right now, PHS seniors get a group discount price on many items. That discount will expire later this fall. For example, Jostens prints announcements only once and it will be done in December. Any announcements ordered after December 1 will be charged an additional cost and will not be delivered to the school.

Class Rings—currently there is a promotion going on until SEPTEMBER 30TH to order class rings for HALF OFF (certain restrictions apply).

Cap and Gowns-- In order to walk at graduation, you must purchase your cap and gown unit from Jostens ONLY. The unit includes a cap, gown and tassel. These units are currently priced at $39.95. THEY WILL NOT BE ANY CHEAPER! This discount expires December 1, after that the price will increase to over $50.00.

Letterman Jackets are also online where you can design and order your custom PHS letterman jacket and much, much more!

If you need help or have any questions, please contact Jostens at 681-235-3138

🇺🇸 PHS Students Earn Prestigious Recognition at Boys State! 🇺🇸

This summer, Will Bashaw, Elliot Lambert, Issac Sheppard, and Preston Nuygen proudly represented Parkersburg High School at the 87th Session of the American Legion Boys State program, where they gained valuable leadership experience, participated in mock government, and built lifelong friendships.

We are especially proud to celebrate two Big Reds who received statewide recognition during the closing ceremony:

🏆 Elliot Lambert was awarded the Hershel "Woody" Williams Americanism Award, presented to the graduating citizen who best exemplifies patriotism, integrity, and service before self.

🏆 William Bashaw received the Samsung American Legion Scholarship and was named a national finalist, an honor recognizing excellence in academics, leadership, volunteer service, work experience, and extracurricular involvement.

These accomplishments reflect the outstanding character, leadership, and dedication of our students. Congratulations to all four representatives for representing PHS with pride and distinction!

🔐 Locker Requests • Locker requests will begin on Monday, August 24. • Advisory teachers will provide a QR code that allows students to request a locker and select a preferred location after they have had a chance to walk their schedules.

Good morning, Thank you to the teachers and volunteers for making Freshman Orientation a success! We will not be distributing Senior schedules today and will notify families when those are ready. We want to make sure the room numbers print correctly. Lockers will be assigned only to students who choose to use one. Starting August 24th, students can scan a QR code to choose a locker. It is estimated that we only used 50 lockers due to students using backpacks. https://forms.cloud.microsoft/pages/responsepage.aspx?id=S7AZ4AwzekaLrgn7FzdNanzhvUAOI8tEuM9IZH9hE3pUN0E4SUFTR041QUlXQVVQWjY5OEQzSFU4Ni4u Here is the AUP which freshman need to fill out before they can be given their iPad.

New students and incoming freshman, please take a minute and fill out your Acceptable Use Policy form with your guardian as soon as possible.

Here is the link to the AUP: https://www.woodcountyschoolswv.com/page/aup

Only 9th graders and new students to PHS need to fill this out. It's important that parents enter their student's name, WVEIS number (student ID number-most start with 9600), as well as selecting their student's school as PHS and Grade 9.

Our goal is to hand out freshman iPads on August 26, but if they do not have their AUP completed, we cannot give them their iPad.

Seniors, We are so excited to start your final year with us. A few things have popped up to me as we prepare. 1. Make sure to get your shot records to Nurse Tori ASAP. 2. Prepare to fill out your financial aid for your next steps. FAFSA https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa 3. Make sure you apply for Promise if you have already met the requirements. If not, know the score you need https://www.cfwv.com/financial-aid/promise-scholarship/how-it-works/ 4. Start your college scholarship applications NOW by setting up an account with Parkersburg Area Foundation. https://pacfwv.com/initiatives/scholarships/apply-for-a-scholarship PHS students earned over 1 million dollars in scholarships this past year. Even if you think you won't qualify still fill out your FFSA when available. Several scholarships went without a recipient last year. Work with your counselor for more insight. Let's go Big Reds!
