• I know there are many other questions you probably have and many of those questions will be answered at graduation practice. Please ask your graduate questions daily, but all of the important information I've just given you is what's vital to start off with this week. Most importantly, Seniors please remember that even though your last day is Monday, you are still technically a student of Parkersburg High School until you graduate on Saturday. There can be no disruption of our school at any time, so please make sure you understand that when it comes to planning your days. Any disruption or poor behavior that is caused can result in failure to participate in Color Day, suspension, and/or failure to walk at graduation.

Good evening, this is Parkersburg High School with some important reminders for Seniors: • Thursday, May 12th and Friday, May 13th, Seniors will turn in their iPad with the cord and charger in the library by a designated schedule that the teachers have been given. • Monday, May 16th is Senior's last day. All make up work, textbooks, and school property should be returned by this day. If you have a locker, please clean out your locker, and place your lock back on your locker, locked up with the door open. • The only reason a Senior should be in the building after the 16th is for business reasons such as paying debts, etc. • Senior Color Day will be Tuesday the 17th starting at 10:00 o'clock. You may line up in the horse shoe starting at 8:30AM. No one will be allowed to park in the horseshoe that day except for Seniors. Only licensed vehicles that can be driven on the road are permitted in the parade; this includes any trailer that is pulled. • Color Day is for Seniors only; no other students are permitted to participate. • We will start Color Day off by gathering at the flagpole at 10:00 o'clock for the Senior song and the raising of the Senior flag. • The parade will go down Washington Ave. around the Park and back up the same way. • The Senior Chill n’Grill will begin after the parade is over. • All vehicles will be checked upon entering the horseshoe; no water balloons or water guns are allowed. Unnecessary items will be confiscated. • The Chill N’ Grill will last no longer than three o’clock; Color Day and the Chill N’ Grill are not required to attend, but are highly suggested due to the long standing tradition. • TAP Day (Awards Day) is on Wednesday, May 18th at 9am. If you know your getting a scholarship, please attend and wear your cap and gown. • The first day of graduation practice is Thursday, May 19th at 8:30 am in the Field House. Do not wear your cap and gown. • If you are planning on walking at graduation, practice is required. Please do not be late! • Please take your red cap and gown out of the plastic and hang it up. You can steam it to get rid of the wrinkles, but do not iron it. Since we are all wearing red this year, you can wear any color under your gown. This is a formal ceremony, so clothing should resemble that. Dress slacks, dresses, dress shoes (NO HEELS), dress shirt, ties, or a combination of are all recommended. • On the first day of practice you will sit up in the Fieldhouse bleachers until we put you in order. • We will be done with practice on both Thursday and Friday by no later than 11:00 o'clock. • Graduation practice takes as long as you cooperate; if you show up on time and you listen, you will get out sooner. • Graduation will be at 10:am on Saturday, May 21st. Seniors will be required to report to the auditorium at 9:00 dressed and ready to go that day in their red cap and gown. • There will be many things handed out at graduation practice. Parents, please make sure you ask to see those items. • We will do everything we can to have graduation outside even if it means dealing with a little bit of rain. • There will not be a ticket requirement if graduation stays outside. • If graduation is inside, there will be a minimum of five tickets given to each graduate. • For those student athletes still participating in sports after graduation on the 21st, you're still considered a student and must abide by the student code of conduct until your sport is concluded. • Caps can be decorated as long as the items glued to the top do not exceed 1” in height. We look forward to a great graduation week from Color Day to practice to Graduation. If you have any questions, you can give us a call at 304-420-9595

2022 yearbooks are in and will be distributed beginning tomorrow. Anyone who purchased a yearbook may pick it up in room 120C (back hallway near custodial room) during their scheduled lunch period. Students may only pick up their own yearbook and you must show your student ID. A list of students who purchased yearbooks will be posted outside of 120C and outside of Mrs. Koreski's room, 311C. If you're not sure whether or not you bought a yearbook, check this list FIRST before standing in line. Yearbooks will not be sold during this time. This is only for pick up of yearbooks that have already been paid for. There will be a very few yearbooks available for purchase on Friday on a first come, first served basis. Priority will be given to seniors; any remaining yearbooks will be available to be purchased by underclassmen beginning Monday, 5/16. Prom is this Saturday, May 7th from 7-10pm in the Field House. Prom line up will begin at 6pm in the horseshoe. The line will wrap around the north end of the school (right side facing) and back into the back lot. Before your name is read, students will be given a note card and pen for them, and their date to write down their name. Upon reading of the names, students can have their moment on the front step to get their picture taken. Once in the Field House, students must have both their ID and ticket to get in; if you do not have both, your admittance will be denied. DO NOT bring anything with you such as backpacks or large purses. A small wallet will be allowed but you must carry it at all times, and it will be searched before entering. Once we acknowledge you can enter you will be given an additional form of identification that you must wear for the remainder of prom so we can help identify who belongs there and who does not. You will be allowed to leave prom at any time from the Field House, but once you leave there is no re-entry into the prom. The horseshoe for that evening will be shut down and we will not allow any parking for lineup unless you bought VIP parking. Parents are more than welcome to take pictures and enjoy the front campus for prom lineup. The weather is expected to be nice for Saturday’s prom. If the weather changes, I will notify you of further directions. If you have any questions about anything I just mentioned, please contact the main office. Thank you and have a wonderful evening.

The Parkersburg High School Foundation is participating in the 2022 Give Local MOV campaign today. This is an opportunity for many local organizations to receive donations matched by generous donations from local individuals and businesses. The Parkersburg High School Foundation has an opportunity to receive an additional $3500 in matching funds, but we need YOUR help! One of the matching funds requires 100 people to donate. Can you take time sometime before midnight and donate a minimum of $10? Donate by going here: https://www.givelocalmov.org/organizations/parkersburg-high-school-foundation The money that we receive will all go back to PHS in teacher grants, capital improvements, scholarships, and other ways that work to enhance our school. This message is for all Juniors and parents of Juniors. Tomorrow, Wednesday, April 13, all Juniors will take the SAT as their state assessment. This is a requirement for all Juniors and is a necessary component to measure their overall academic levels. All Juniors need to be in their assigned classrooms by 8am; DO NOT BE LATE! Classroom assignments have been posted throughout the first floor of the building, the front and back hallway, and in the cafeteria. Upon entering for testing, each Junior will receive a drawing ticket that will allow them to be considered for prize drawings later that afternoon in the Field House. We have about $1300 in prizes to give away just for being on time and showing up. You must be present to win and in order to be able to win you must have a ticket; which means you must be on time! Please get a good nights rest so you can perform your best. No electronic devices will be allowed during testing; this includes smart devices of any kind. All Juniors will attend the same lunch after testing is over. Juniors who have classes at the Tech or Caperton Center tomorrow, will not attend and you will be excused. Juniors parents do not plan on picking up your student during testing because we cannot interrupt testing in process. Good luck tomorrow!
