The Criminal Justice program traveled to West Virginia Penitentiary for an unforgettable learning experience.
They explored the historic prison grounds to learn about law enforcement, corrections, and the history of criminal justice. Students gained insight into the realities of the justice system while stepping inside one of West Virginia’s most well-known landmarks.

Yesterday’s Career Fair and Advisory Council Meetings were a tremendous success, bringing together students, staff, and industry partners for a day of connection, opportunity, and collaboration.
A sincere thank you to all of the vendors who took time out of their busy schedules to attend and support our students. Your presence and engagement make a lasting impact and help open doors for future careers.

Automotive Technology students got hands-on experience rebuilding, measuring, and reassembling small engines. From teardown to full rebuild, they put precision and skills to work in the shop!

These students have demonstrated excellence in their technical programs and a strong commitment to leadership, service, and character. We’re proud to recognize their hard work and dedication as they take this next step in their academic and career journeys.

Students Alex Cale and Blake Morris, from Mr. Deaton’s Collision Repair class, recently put their skills to work by polishing and preparing a 2013 Harley-Davidson Street Glide for a customer. After the bike was freshly painted and assembled, they completed the final detailing touches to ensure it was road-ready and looking its best.

In this hands-on project, students are putting their skills to the test to keep data safe, securing a compromised computer by strengthening firewall protections, identifying and removing potential malware, recovering lost files, and tracking down suspicious activity.

This hands-on experience allowed students to apply their knowledge in a real courtroom setting and gain valuable insight into the judicial process.

🧸❤️ **Teddy Bear Clinic!** ❤️🧸
Our Senior Medical Skills students had an amazing time hosting the Teddy Bear Clinic with the first graders from Franklin Elementary!
The young students did a fantastic job caring for their bears, checking height and weight, testing eyes and ears, taking temperatures, and even getting chest X-rays. They also listened to heart sounds and carefully counted each bear’s pulse.
The good news: almost all of the bears were in great health! One special bear needed a little extra attention, and thanks to a quick-thinking first grader, it even received CPR!
Our Senior Medical Skills students truly enjoyed working with the younger children and were excited to be part of such a fun and meaningful experience.

Mr. Werry's Firefighting class spent a day over spring break at the Parkersburg Fire Training Center, immersing themselves in a hands-on educational experience. Under the guidance of the Parkersburg Fire Department, they completed vital training modules, including forcible entry, hose handling, movement, search-and-rescue techniques, ventilation strategies, and exterior fire attack. This intensive training equipped the students with practical firefighting skills and fostered a deep appreciation for the courage and dedication required in the field.

Due to snowy and icy conditions impacting a significant portion of the southern part of Wood County, Wood County Schools will now be closed today, Tuesday, March 17, 2026. While some areas of the county may not be experiencing the same conditions, roadways in other areas remain hazardous. Because our buses and families travel across many different communities and road conditions, this decision was made to prioritize the safety of all students and staff throughout the entire county. We appreciate your understanding as we work to ensure everyone can travel safely.
Due to various road conditions throughout the county, Wood County Schools will be on a 2-hour delay on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
Important Update Regarding the End of the School Year: We are pleased to share that the West Virginia Department of Education has granted Wood County Schools a waiver for three instructional days. As a result of this approval, the last day of school for students will remain Tuesday, June 2, 2026 — no changes have been made to the previously published school calendar. No further action is needed on your part. Please make note of this date as you plan for summer childcare, activities, and travel.
