Wood County Recreation is gearing up for a season of fun with a full lineup of winter programs for children of all ages. This year’s offerings include Winter Volleyball, Small Fry Basketball, and Mini Cheer—providing local students with exciting opportunities to stay active, build skills, and connect with peers.

Winter Volleyball

Open to students in 3rd through 12th grade, Winter Volleyball will be held Sundays only at Parkersburg High School, with practices scheduled on Thursdays and Fridays.

Player evaluations will take place on January 4, and the season officially begins on January 11.

Small Fry Basketball & Mini Cheer

For younger athletes, Small Fry Basketball and Mini Cheer are available for children in PreK through 8th grade. These programs will meet Saturdays only at Jefferson Elementary Center and Parkersburg Christian School.

A special Meet and Greet Day is set for January 10, giving families a chance to connect with coaches and learn what to expect. Practices will be held 20 minutes before each game, with no weekday practices.

  • Each program costs $40 per player, and scholarships are available for families who qualify.

  • Wood County Rec will host two in-person sign-up days on December 6 and December 13 from 9 a.m. to noon at their office inside Parkersburg City Park.
