Miss Ruth was known throughout our community as the crossing guard who smiled and waved to everyone, every single day. Her kindness, warmth, and joy were a part of so many lives, and she brought a little bit of sunshine to our community simply by being there.
Although Ruth is no longer with us, we would like to honor her memory by celebrating the things she loved most. Ruth had an incredible love for cats, just as she had an incredible love for the children of Williamstown. .
In Ruth's honor, WES PTA will be collecting donations of much needed supplies for the Humane Society of the Ohio Valley (HSOV). We hope to fill their shelves with donations as a small way of continuing the kindness and love that Ruth shared so freely with our community. • We invite our WES families and the Williamstown community to join us in remembering Miss Ruth through an act of kindness that would make her proud.

We will be having our first lockdown drill of the year on Wednesday.. We will complete 4 of these drills throughout the year. I have attached an image of Wood County Schools new safety protocols. Teachers will be talking with your children prior to the drill about how the lockdown will work. This drill will be run through Centigix and students will observe blue flashing lights during the drill. I have also attached a video that will be shown to students. Families, This is a reminder that parents should not be parking in the lot on the Henderson Avenue side of the building for after school pick-up. Friday afternoon was very chaotic and unsafe for children. The bus drivers had a difficult time in the bus loop. We had children walking through the parking lot with moving cars. If you are in a car, you should get in the parent pick up line. Please help us keep children safe during dismissal.
2 Volunteers Still Needed
As this is an election year for LSIC parent representatives, we want to provide other parents the opportunity to become involved and help shape the future of our school.
We are currently seeking 2 parent volunteers to serve on our Local School Improvement Council (LSIC). Members serve a two-year term.

Our staff was treated to a phenomenal lunch before Open House on Monday, thanks to the generosity of several community partners and supporters.
Texas Roadhouse of Marietta provided delicious rolls, salad, and baked potatoes, with Arista serving up the potatoes for our staff. Mountain State BQ, owned by Keith Murphy, supplied the pulled pork, which was still warm when it arrived. We are especially grateful to Williamstown Bank, one of our valued business partners, for sponsoring the pulled pork lunch.
To top off the meal, Misti Sims of Little Black Dress Events, another outstanding business partner, created a beautiful dessert bar that was enjoyed by all.
More than just a wonderful meal, this gathering provided an opportunity for staff members to reconnect, share conversation, and enjoy time together as we begin another exciting school year. We are incredibly thankful for the support of our community partners who help make events like this possible.
