Good afternoon, this is Christie Willis, superintendent of Wood County Schools. Unforeseen traffic issues today have delayed eight Wood County Schools buses bringing students back from field trips in Charleston. This will cause a 30-45 minute dismissal delay for students on those buses and for student who ride those buses home. Students who are delayed at the school will continue to be supervised until the buses arrive. This delay includes students riding bus numbers 80, 81, 169, 176, 183, 184 and 218. This affects students from Williamstown Middle High School, Parkersburg High School, Parkersburg South High School, Jackson Middle, Edison Middle, Blennerhassett Middle, Hamilton Middle, Neale Elementary, Lubeck Elementary, Blennerhassett Elementary, Kanawha Elementary and Williamstown Elementary schools. We apologize for the inconvenience and want to assure everyone that students are safe and in good hands. The safety of students is our number one priority. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this situation.

Greetings parents and guardians: While working through a glitch in our all-call system, Wood County Schools realized that our morning, elementary school attendance calls to parents informing of a student absence did not go out. Monday, February 6, 2023 will be a Professional Learning Day for employees. Students will not attend classes. Classes will resume on Tuesday at normal times.
Due to worsening road conditions, Wood County Schools will now be closed today, Tuesday, January 31st. There will be no classes. 261-day employees are to report two hours later than their normal start time.
