Kite Day Flyer at Spencer Landing

On June 13, students and families will have the opportunity to step back in time at the annual Ben Franklin Kite Day at Spencer Landing. This exciting community event, held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., celebrates early American history in a fun and interactive way for children of all ages.

Inspired by Benjamin Franklin and his famous kite experiment, the event invites families to enjoy a day filled with history, learning, and outdoor fun. Students will have the chance to fly kites, explore Revolutionary War-era activities, and meet historical reenactors portraying George Washington and Martha Washington.

Hosted in partnership with the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution, Ben Franklin Kite Day is designed to make history engaging and memorable for young learners. Events like this help students connect classroom lessons to real-world experiences while encouraging curiosity about America’s founding and scientific discovery.

Families are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, sunscreen, and their own kites if they have them. This is a wonderful opportunity for Greenmont Elementary students to enjoy time outdoors, learn about important historical figures, and participate in a unique community tradition.

We hope many of our Greenmont families will attend this special event and enjoy a day of learning, laughter, and kite flying together!
