At Jackson Middle School, we are thankful for all of our families, and because of this, we would like to make sure that our families in need are full during Thanksgiving! Jackson Middle School Student Council is sponsoring a Thank-full Food Drive from October 25th-29th, the same week as our Halloween Spirit Week, in efforts to put together holiday meals! Please check out the attached flyer for a list of items that we will be collecting! The Developmental Guidance Class that collects the most items will win a Donut Party!

Good evening, Jackson parents, students, and staff, I hope you all are having a good evening. I want to mention a couple items for this week. First, our Parent Teacher Organization will be having a meeting tomorrow, Oct 20, at 330 pm. They are meeting right in front of the school at this time. I encourage anyone that would like to be part of the PTO to come out and support them at this time, bring a chair! I also want to mention that the end of the first nine weeks is this Friday, Oct 22. Grades are closing quickly and students need to make sure they have all work turned in. Report cards will be issued on Nov. 1. Next week we will be having Spirt Week here at Jackson! Good evening Jackson parents, students, and staff, This is Mr Kisner with a quick announcement for the week. On October 14, Fall sports will be taking group pictures. Anyone wanting re-takes or makeup individual pictures will also have them done this day. If your student needs a picture packet they are in the hall in front of the office. Just a reminder that there will be no school for students on October 15, as teachers have professional learning and faculty senate on this day. Have a great evening, Go Generals!

First, if your student has a water bottle they can bring to school to fill at water fill stations please have them bring them. We have too many students asking for cups from our nurse and we just cannot provide that many. Also I want to mention that there will be no school for students next Monday, October 4. All parents may check student progress and grades via Schoology for the midterm. All students should have gotten a picture packet, if not they can get one outside of the main office. Any students that are doing virtual or distance learning may come any time after 8:30 to have their picture taken. We will have an additional day later on for make-ups. Good evening, Jackson parents, students, and staff; This is Mr. Kisner with a few announcements for tomorrow. First, all students will report to Developmental Guidance tomorrow morning. Our 7th and 8th graders will be going to the STEAM Academy starting tomorrow, and all students will be taking the Math benchmark assessment tomorrow. At the end of the day, all students will get to hear about our various clubs here at Jackson. I also want to mention that the PTO Spirit wear orders are due tomorrow. Please make sure you turn in any orders by tomorrow so that the PTO can place spirit wear orders in a timely manner! Finally, our Blessings of Hope Food program will once again be offering a supply of nutritious meals and snacks for children needing food over the weekends. If you believe your child needs additional food and could benefit from this program, we encourage you to contact Mrs. McDonald or Ms. George. Your student will then bring home a form that we simply need filled out and brought back. I hope you all have a great evening, Go Generals!

All students will report to developmental guidance after they go to their lockers in the morning. Please have your IPad charged as we will all be taking the IReady Benchmark in ELA. Students will stay in DG until 9:50, after testing they may read a book or work on IReady. We will then run a 2 hr delay schedule. Do your beat tomorrow, Go Generals!

Good afternoon Jackson parents, students, and staff, It was great getting students back into the classrooms and starting the school year! I would like to mention a few items as we begin our first full week of school. First, thank you to everyone that has returned their Acceptable Use policy! We will be getting IPads out to students as soon as these forms are completed and information verified. If your student has not turned in an AUP, please do this as soon as possible. Also, we need to have everyone turn in their pink health form with updated information. This allows us to get the correct information in the system. Also, please remember the building does not open until 7:30AM for students to enter. Staff do not arrive to let students in until this time, therefore students cannot come into the building until then. Please remember when weather changes, students will still have to wait until this time for staff to enter the building at 7:30. The last thing I would like to mention is 4th block. This is lunch, intramurals, and developmental guidance. Students should plan on putting books and iPads in their lockers during this block. They will need IPads only for developmental guidance and can easily go to their locker between these three areas. Students shouldn’t take any books to intramurals or lunch. If a student needs homework help, they can go during intramurals. They just need to report to room 17 in the 6th grade hallway. I hope you have a great evening and Go Generals!

Welcome back Generals!

Good evening. Tomorrow brings much anticipation with the start of a new school year. I am so excited to see our students and employees back in our buildings as we work together to become the # 1 school district in the state of West Virginia. We are so fortunate to have a wonderful community of parents and guardians that understand the importance of a first-class education and are willing to go above and beyond to ensure the success of our students and schools. However, we know there is a lot of work to complete. This summer, WCS has equipped schools with essential personnel for targeted intervention, created a STEAM Academy for middle school students, and continued to upgrade our facilities to provide the most conducive environments possible in our schools. We are very excited to see the new school year begin. I encourage each of you to review our re-entry guidance document located on our webpage at https://tinyurl.com/yhq2qwgb. As you know, directives can change quickly with little notice. I will do my best to communicate changes to you as directives are received. I encourage all parents and students to follow the recommendations in the guidance document including, but not limited to - wearing a mask, staying socially distanced, and practicing good, hand-washing hygiene. As always, I ask for your patience on the first day of school. There are many moving parts that we will continually perfect throughout the year. Good evening Jackson parents, students, and staff. This is Mr. Kisner and I want to welcome everyone to the 2021-22 school year! We look forward to all our students returning tomorrow. All students need to report to your homeroom teacher when dismissed at 7:55. Masks are not mandated, however we do highly recommend masks as they may help keep the risk of quarantine down in classes if we do have a COVID case. All students should enter the school through the cafeteria. Doors open at 730 AM and first period is at 8AM. 6th grade will go upstairs and sit in the 6th grade hall, 7th grade will be in the gym, and 8th grade will sit in the 7th grade hall. At this time, during lunch, students will eat in the cafeteria. We will have students sit 8 to a table. We will have overflow seating in a classroom to be assigned. Dismissal will be at 3:14. Students may be picked up in the Community building parking lot or the tennis court parking lot. If students ride a bus they will report to the cafeteria when dismissed. Good evening Jackson parents, students, and staff, Our teachers at Jackson will begin work tomorrow preparing for the first day of school on Thursday, August 19. This is a reminder that open house will be Tuesday, August 17. At open house, if you go to your student’s homeroom, which are on the cafeteria windows, you will be able to get their schedule and then you can walk around the school and visit teachers. This is an open format and will be from 4:45-6:45 in the evening. Acceptable Use Policy forms will be available on the table in front of the office if you want to pick one up to have filled out for the first day of school. Completing this form early will ensure your student gets their IPad quicker. I also encourage you to visit our PTO table on Tuesday evening and become a member of our Parent/Teacher group! A few items that I want to mention concerning our re-entry to school this year: 1. Masks are highly recommended for students/staff, but are not required. There are quarantine protocols that we have to go by if a COVID case would occur, and those protocols can be found in the WCS re-entry document located on the WCS website. 2. All students enter the building through the cafeteria. Students may enter the building at 7:30 a.m, please do not drop students off too early! If a student wishes to eat breakfast, they need to grab a breakfast and sit in the cafeteria to eat. 6th graders will sit in the cafeteria, 7th and 8th graders will report to the gym. Students will be dismissed to their homeroom on the first day of school at 7:55! Everyday after this, they will go to their lockers and 1st period. 3. On the first day of school, students will report to their homeroom or DG class when dismissed! 4. Please make sure you read through all information that goes home with your student on the first day of school, there are two very important items that will be in there! One of those is the “pink” contact/health card. We need this back as soon as possible with updated information for all students! The second one is the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP), we can not issue an IPad to your student until this is complete. Please be aware these devices are your students responsibility and fees may be assessed for damages. WCS does have an optional damage policy if you are interested in it, that is attached to the AUP. I want to let everyone know Developmental Guidance class lists will be on the cafeteria windows tomorrow by 10AM. You can find your name on the DG list and find your teacher’s name at the top of that list. At open house on 8/17, students and parents can go to their DG classroom to get there schedule for this coming school year. Open house will be from 4:45 – 6:45, this is an open format and parents and students will be able to walk around and visit classrooms and teachers. Students may attend either day at their scheduled time. Students with last names beginning with A-K will be from 9:00 - 10:30 AM and students with last names beginning with L-Z will be from 1:00 - 2:30 PM. Students that have siblings that may have different last names can attend at the same time. This will be a quick overview of the school and help acclimate students to Jackson. All students should enter through the cafeteria doors. These are the doors on the lower level right beside 15th Ave. Parents are welcome to walk their students up, and then we can have you complete the student Acceptable Use Policy form so that they can get their iPad on the day they come. If we do not have a completed AUP, we will show the student an iPad, but will not be able to send it home with them. All students will receive an AUP to complete and return. If you wish to print out a copy of this form to complete before coming, please go to the News section on the Jackson website. This will help speed up the process. Students will be place in their developmental guidance rooms or homeroom as they participate in the sessions. There will be 4 main sessions: 1) A tour of the building 2)How to work a lock and lockers 3) Schedules and how to know where to go 4) IPads Students will then finish up in the cafeteria where they were dropped off. Good evening Jackson parents, students, and staff! This is Mr. Kisner with a few brief announcements! The beginning of the school year is quickly approaching and we all look forward to this new school year! I want to remind our incoming 6th graders that there will be Tour de Jackson on August 10 and 11. I have another message with details for that event going out tomorrow! There will be Open House for all parents and students on August 17 from 4:45 pm till 6:45 pm. This will be an open format in which parents/students can walk around the school and visit classrooms and teachers. More information will be given on this event next week. Lastly, our Student Council is going to begin their school improvement project tomorrow, August 5. They will be meeting this week on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 12 to 4 pm. Please remember to wear old clothes and bring your painting supplies! Any families that would like to donate for this project, student council is looking for paint rollers, brushes, and tape. Any donations can be dropped off at the front door! Anyone that would like to help can come out at those times as well! Thank you for your support and helping in the improvement project!
