Good evening, Jackson parents, students, and staff. This is Mr. Kisner with a message concerning General Summative Assessment testing for next week. 8th grade students will begin testing Monday morning and test through Thursday of next week. All other grades will test Tuesday through Thursday. Students need to be at school on time in the morning, as we will begin testing daily by 8:15 am and should be done by 10:00 am daily, however this will differ for some students that may take longer.
Parents, if you could help us with the following items that would be very beneficial for your student. First, students need to arrive on time for the start of the day. It is important they are well rested and ready to go so they can do their best on these assessments. Second, please have your iPad fully charged each morning so that they can use it on the exam. We have been practicing and students know how to test using their device. It would be a shame for them not to use it on the assessment because it isn’t able to function. The last thing parents can help us with is making sure students understand the importance of this assessment. It will help us determine what they have learned throughout the year and will benefit them in scheduling for the upcoming year. Also, it is important students understand that having any other device with them during testing is not acceptable and can invalidate the test. What I mean by that is students cannot have cellphones or smart watches that have their own data plan on during the testing sessions. These items need to remain in lockers at all times during the test. If it is determined a student would have something like this, it could invalidate the test for them.
Thank you for your help during this time! We look forward to seeing how well our students do this year on the GSA! We hope you have a wonderful evening! Go Generals!
