💛🎗️ MADISON GOES GOLD! 🎗️💛 Today, our Madison Mustang Family went GOLD in support of children and families facing pediatric cancer. Our staff members dressed in gold to show that even a small gesture can send a powerful message of hope, love, strength, and support. 💛 Our Climate & Culture Committee also collected a donation for BrAva, a local organization dedicated to supporting families of children battling cancer. Today was about more than wearing gold—it was about showing our students what it means to care for others, stand together, and make a difference in our community. 🔬🐴 Learning Together at Madison Elementary! 🐴🔬 Madison Elementary offered a Title I Parent Involvement Activity designed to bring students and families together for some hands-on learning! Our students and parents learned how to complete a science fair project—from choosing a question and developing a hypothesis to conducting an experiment, recording results, and presenting their findings. This activity was a wonderful opportunity to help our Mustang families learn more about the Wood County Science Fair and how students can participate. Wood County Schools has a long-standing tradition of celebrating student science projects, with elementary students competing in categories such as biology, chemistry, physics, earth/environmental science, engineering, and more. ❤️ Why Title I Matters Title I provides additional resources and support to help schools provide students with opportunities to succeed academically. These resources can support learning experiences, instructional materials, family engagement, and other services that supplement the education students receive every day. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Why Parent Involvement Matters When families take an active role in their child’s education, children see that learning is important both at school and at home. Parent involvement helps strengthen communication between families and teachers, builds confidence, encourages curiosity, and gives children another important support system as they learn and grow. Mrs. Tennant's Pre-K class learned about apples this week along with our senses unit of study. We made applesauce, painted apples, and did apple math problems as well as many other activities. The students had so much fun learning about apples and their senses this week.

We are excited to share that student leadership positions were announced today! Students chosen for these important school roles will be bringing home a letter this afternoon that explains their responsibilities and why they were selected.

Mrs. Reid's 2nd grade class celebrated the start of fall with STEM centers. Students constructed apple carriers with LEGO, made leaf rubbings, and tested the best ways to stack apples.

❌ Create a sense of urgency
❌ Contain suspicious links

PHS Pride Tour!

Mrs. Davis's 4th graders have been looking forward to the PHS Pride Tour all week! They made signs, clapped along with the band, cheered, and shared lots of positivity, smiles, and encouragement with our Big Reds before their big game against South tonight!

It was so much fun watching our little Big Reds show their school spirit and support our team!

Did you know that Integrated Health Centers of West Virginia provides school-based telehealth care at our school if your child needs medical care during the school day?  Your school nurse can coordinate an appointment and your child will be evaluated by a medical provider.  If you child is too sick to stay at school, the school nurse will follow standard procedures and send them home.  We are so happy to offer this service for busy parents through our partnership with IHCWV.   For more information, contact your school nurse.  

All week both 4th grade classes learned about what happened on September 11, 2001 during Social Studies with me. They learned about the twin towers, the Pentagon, and flight 93. They watched videos, read articles, and had great discussions. We finished out the week completing comprehension questions and coloring pictures in honor of Patriot's Day. 🇺🇸

From our shirts down to our shoes, Madison staff picked a friend and dressed up for "Staff Twins Day" ! Here is our fifth grade team ~ great job showing your school spirit !
