We have been made aware of false information circulating on social media stating that Williamstown Elementary and Williamstown Middle/High School are on lockdown. This information is **not true**. There is no lockdown at either school, and all operations are proceeding as normal.
Wood County Schools is aware of an online threat targeting various school systems across West Virginia. We take every threat seriously and are actively monitoring the situation. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and we are working closely with local law enforcement to ensure that all necessary precautions are taken. PRE-SCHOOL, KINDERGARTEN, AND GRADES ONE THROUGH THREE, TRANSPORTATION REQUIRES APPROPRIATE SUPERVISION. Students in pre-school, kindergarten, and grades one through three will be let off the bus only under appropriate supervision. Appropriate supervision would include a responsible adult or older sibling. If appropriate supervision is not provided, the driver will return the student to the school. REPEATED INSTANCES OF SUPERVISION NOT BEING PROVIDED SHALL BE CAUSE TO REVOKE TRANSPORTATION PRIVILEGES.
The same rule applies to walkers and bike riders. A student must be in fourth grade or above to walk home alone or ride a bike. If a child has an older sibling at the elementary, they may walk with them.
