Parents,
Please do not enter the staff entrance on Lake Washington Road. We cannot allow some parents to come in this entrance in the mornings and park to let their child off, while everyone else must wait in line. We understand that the drop off line can be long, but we have to have traffic patterns and rules for everyone's safety. We also ask that everyone speak respectfully with staff; they are only trying to enforce the rules and do their jobs. Thank you.

Due to snowy and icy conditions impacting a significant portion of the southern part of Wood County, Wood County Schools will now be closed today, Tuesday, March 17, 2026. While some areas of the county may not be experiencing the same conditions, roadways in other areas remain hazardous. Because our buses and families travel across many different communities and road conditions, this decision was made to prioritize the safety of all students and staff throughout the entire county. We appreciate your understanding as we work to ensure everyone can travel safely.
Due to various road conditions throughout the county, Wood County Schools will be on a 2-hour delay on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
There is still time, and a few spaces remain—reserve your child’s spot in Pre-K at Wood County Schools today.

Important Update Regarding the End of the School Year: We are pleased to share that the West Virginia Department of Education has granted Wood County Schools a waiver for three instructional days. As a result of this approval, the last day of school for students will remain Tuesday, June 2, 2026 — no changes have been made to the previously published school calendar. No further action is needed on your part. Please make note of this date as you plan for summer childcare, activities, and travel. For the most up-to-date school calendar information, visit woodcountyschoolswv.com/calendar. Thank you for your continued support of Wood County Schools.

Good evening preschool parents:
I understand the lack of parking that our school has and how difficult it can be to find a space for drop off in the mornings. However, please do not double park along the road that goes back behind the school. It is a safety issue and teachers are not able to get into their parking spaces behind the building. You can still line up along that road, but please do it in a single file line ONLY along the fence. Thanks!

Hello families,
Next week we will honor Dr. Seuss and Read Across America Week. Please see the attached flier for the different spirit days. Of course this is optional, but we did try to select themes where no one will feel like they need to go buy anything special.
Also, on March 19th and 20th, we will be participating in the Wood County Society's hat day/pajama day. It costs $1 to participate and we will send all the money to the Wood County Society. The Wood County Society supports youth and adults with developmental differences. This is a great cause for us to support. PreK will participate on Thursday, the 19th and K-5 on Friday, the 20th. Thank you!

Parents and Guardians:
Each year the WV Department of Education conducts parent surveys for the school that their child attends. The survey is short and should only last about 10 minutes. Please take some time and complete this survey so we can receive some feedback. We need at least 20 parents to complete the survey for it to count. You may need to copy and paste the below link into a new tab to complete the survey. Thank you!

Good evening, we will be selling these candy bar bouquets for Valentine’s Day this Friday. The bouquet includes 10 candy bars, a mini balloon, and a small stuffed animal. The cost will be $15 and we can deliver them to your child’s classroom on Friday (grades K-5) or Thursday for preschool. We will make no extra profit on these; this will just help us sell our remaining stock of candy bars. Please message us if you would like one for your child and send in $15 by this Friday. Once we run out of candy bars, we will not make any more. Thanks!

Due to inclement weather conditions, including snow and ice on roadways, particularly on less-traveled back roads, and ongoing safety concerns with parking lots, Wood County Schools will be closed on Monday, January 26.
This decision was made with the safety of our students, families, and staff as our highest priority. Difficult travel conditions and icy surfaces create unsafe conditions for buses, drivers, and pedestrians, and we believe closure is the most responsible course of action.
We appreciate your understanding and encourage families to continue monitoring district communications for any additional updates.
