Parent Teacher Conferences Oct. 26
Good evening parents, students, and staff. This is Mr. Kisner with a few announcements. First, a reminder that this Friday, Oct. 20, is fall sports pictures and picture retakes! I also want to remind everyone that last week we sent home information on Parent/Teacher conferences. If you would like to schedule a conference, you should return the provided document or contact your student teacher for a time. Conferences will be held next Thursday, October 26. Tomorrow, Jackson Park Drive beside the pool area will be closed down to one lane of traffic. Please make arrangements for this. Also, parents if you could remind your student to not carry their IPad inside a three-ring binder. If you do this, you could possibly damage the IPad. I hope you all have a great evening and Go Generals!

Good evening Jackson parents, students, and staff. This is Mr. Kisner with a quick announcement concerning traffic around the school for tomorrow, October 9. Jackson Park Drive will be closed as they will be putting in a gas line for the pool that will have to cross the road. Again, this will cause issues in the traffic pattern around the school. They are hoping to have it done and the road back open in one day. Thank you for your patience and cooperation. Go Generals!

Good afternoon, this is Mr. Kisner with an important message concerning the traffic pattern around Jackson Middle School for next week. On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday; Jackson Park Drive will be closed partially due to construction at the pool area. Please note that if you generally drop off in the area of the tennis courts or pool, that area will not be available. Please also know if you come over the hill from Rosemar Road that you should find an alternate route. Please also try to understand that with this detour, the traffic congestion on 34th Street will be very high. It may be best to exit along 15th Ave. toward 28th Street to help with traffic flow. Again, this will make traffic highly congested Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. WCS transportation is also aware of this and will be using alternate routes to the school. Have a great evening and Go Generals!

*Student Test Scores* In spring 2023, students in Grades 3 through 8 took the General Summative Assessment and students in Grade 11 took the SAT School Day assessment. On Tuesday, September 12, students will receive a printed copy of their individual student score report which will contain information regarding each student's performance on the tested areas. To further assist parents/guardians in understanding their child's performance on the WVGSA or the SAT School Day, the West Virginia Department of Education is providing an individual video score report for each student in addition to the printed report.. A link to your child's individual video score report will be sent to your child's K12 student email address on September 12th. Please work with your student to access the link in the email. When you click on the link, you will be taken to a site where you will need to enter your child's date of birth to access the video report. Resources are also available at that site to help your student. If you need assistance in locating the video score report link, or if you do not know your child's K12 email address or password, you may contact your child's school, or contact Cathy Grewe at the Wood County Schools Board Office at 304-420-9663 Extension 122.

Good evening Jackson parents, students, and staff. This is Mr. Kisner with a few announcements! First, let me say we had a great first two days to the 2023-2024 school year! Students have been very attentive and ready to get back, although I think some seemed pretty tired after yesterday! I do need to mention a few items. First, students cannot be dropped off or picked up outside door 17, the entrance by the gym, unless they have mobility issues. Students must enter the building by the cafeteria doors or through door 1. Students may exit door 1 or door 8 on the second floor. This is a safety concern. There will be some student athletes that exit to the side parking lot to pick up snacks for after school practices, but no one is to exit the building to get a ride from that door. Thank you for your help. Next Monday, August 28, will be picture day! Students can pick up a picture packet outside of the office. The easiest way to order is using the QR code or website! Both these items will be posted to the Jackson website and Facebook page this evening! Our Jackson PTA group is also selling Spirit wear through September 8! You can get an order form by the main office, or again check the website and Facebook page this evening! They have a lot of great Jackson green! I also want to mention that tomorrow will be our first Jackson Friday, wear your Jackson green to school tomorrow! We want to start the year off right by showing our school spirit! Have a great evening! Go Generals!

Good evening Jackson parents, students, and staff. We want to welcome everyone to Jackson beginning tomorrow! We look forward to starting the school year and having students back in the learning environment! Students can be dropped off at 7:30 in the morning, all students enter through the cafeteria. Anyone that wishes to eat breakfast needs to get a breakfast bag and eat in the cafeteria. 6th grade students will stay in the cafeteria each morning until the dismissal bell rings. Tomorrow, 6th grade will wait in the cafeteria until their HR teacher picks them up! 7th grade students will come in the cafeteria and go upstairs to the cafeteria where they will sit on the floor. 8th grade students will go upstairs to the gym and sit in the bleachers. At 7:50, the release bell will ring for students to go to HR. All students will report to HR first and teachers will make sure everyone has a schedule and locker. Then students will be sent to lockers to put things in them. One thing that I want to mention about this year are drinks in school. If you bring a drink to school it must be in a sealable bottle. That means it must have a twist or snap lid with no straw. Students will not be allowed to take beverages to their lockers or classes that do not have this due to spills. If you bring something like that, you will be asked to finish it in the cafeteria before going upstairs. Also, students should only have water throughout the day. At lunch, they can have other drinks as long as it is not an energy drink. Thank you for your help with this! The first two days of school we will run a modified schedule so that all students will get to know expectations and routines. Each grade level will also have an assembly the first couple of days. We also encourage parents to take a look at our Student Handbook on the website. Students will be bringing home a lot of information that needs to be completed by parents and guardians, please return this information back to the school as soon as possible. Finally, let me inform everyone that Jackson will have school pictures on Monday, August 28. All students will be able to have their picture taken. You can get a picture order form from school, I will also be posting a flyer to our webpage and Facebook page in the next couple of days. We hope everyone has a great start to the new year and Go Generals!
