Parent or guardian, you can attend one of tonight’s Title 1 Parent Learning Academy sessions. 2:20-3:15 OR 6-7pm. Learn some fun academic skills and get freebies… in addition to having social probation lifted (up through today’s date).

Late this afternoon administrators were made aware of a possible threat by a student at Van Devender Middle School which was reported through the West Virginia See Send App. Administrators immediately contacted law enforcement and located the student identified in the message. The school was briefly placed on lockdown, though most students had already left for the day.
The investigation found no credible threat.

The Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department in collaboration with Wood County Board of Education will be offering a school-based immunization clinic for students needing TDap and Meningitis vaccines. This clinic will be held on either May 2, or May 3 and will be offered to students currently in 6th grade. Parents are not required to be present for this clinic. However, completion of the consent form and screening questionnaire will be required before immunizations can be given. Insurance information is required, but no student will be turned away due lack of coverage or inability to pay. Please turn in all required forms to the school by April 28. Forms will be coming home with your student this Thursday.

Lots of great things going on this week!
LSIC (Local School Improvement Council) presentations for all north-end feeder schools to PHS will have booths set up to show off their schools from 6-7pm on Monday, April 17 at PHS. Come out and support your school!
Tuesday, April 18 will be Parent Night with Counselor at PHS, Brian Sprague, will discuss scheduling information for the incoming 9th grade class in our school library at 5pm.
Also, the final iReady math and reading diagnostics take place this week. Students can earn a reward trip to the Boys & Girls Club on May 18 if they meet requirements. Encourage your student to DO THEIR BEST ON THE TEST. We can't wait for students to show off their hard work and improvement.
Thursday, April 20 will be the next Parent Learning Academy sessions (2:20-3:15 OR 6-7 pm). Students attending with a parent or guardian will not only receive info and freebies on a targeted academic skill, but will also earn House points to go towards earning a trip to SkyZone Trampoline Park on May 23.
Attention parents/guardians of current 8th graders: Tuesday April 18th at 5:00PM Brian Sprague, Counselor at PHS, will be hosting an informational meeting with parents to go over scheduling information for their rising 9th grader. All are encouraged to attend.
On Monday April 17th, Mr. Sprague will be presenting in your student's classroom so be sure to ask them about what classes they would like to take that evening when they get home.

Join us Thursday, April 13 from 2:20-3:15 OR 6-7pm for some hands-on learning fun with your student. Students can earn House points to go towards the BIG end of year trip with student/parent participation. Hope to see you there!



All students entering 7th grade, for the 2023-2024 school year, must have received their Tdap and Meningococcal Immunizations prior to the start of school. If your student has not received them, please contact their doctor, the Ritchie Regional Clinic, or the Health Department to schedule.
