The school year may be over, but it's never to early to mark your calendar! The 2024-2025 school year will host Open House on Monday, August 19. Elementary schools will be from 4 to 6 pm and middle and high schools (including WCTC/Caperton Center) from 5 to 7 pm. Good afternoon Emerson Families, As a reminder, our Fun Run is tomorrow starting at 3 p.m. Students will dismiss at normal time. If your child rides a bus but you plan to pick them up at school for the event, please send a note to school tomorrow morning. The Fun Run entrance will be set up on the left side of the building. Students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Students will receive their race number at check in, starting at 2:50 p.m. The K-2 run is at 3 p.m. with the 3-5 run at 4 p.m. The run will be six laps around the school track. Rain or shine! Last minute student entries will be accepted at the school until noon Thursday.

Good day Emerson families, This is a quick reminder that all tardy students (arriving after 8:05 a.m.) must be walked in by an adult and signed into school. Thank you. We also want to remind parents that the cut off for students to register to run/walk during the "student" portion of the race is noon tomorrow. Grades K-2 run at 3 p.m. and 3-5 run at 4 p.m. Public registration begins at 5 p.m. with the public race at 5:30 p.m. We will have extra color for children to throw for sale at the event, along with a variety of t-shirts and freeze dried candy. This is a PTA sponsored event.

Good afternoon Emerson families. We are starting to distribute Fun Run shirts for our pre-paid students. Each student will also have a ticket to bring to the event. On Thursday, students will turn their tickets in at the main entrance for their race number. We are excited the Emerson PTA is bringing this amazing event to our school. If you would like your child to participate and have not turned in their registration yet, time is running out. Please call the school office to schedule a time to come in to register. There will be no student registration the afternoon of the event. The general public may register at 5 p.m. for the 5:30 p.m. public Fun Run.

On Friday, May 31, Emerson Elementary will hold the final awards assembly of the 2023-24 school year. 1st and 2nd grade at 9am, 3rd and 4th grade at 10am, and 5th grade will have a special assembly at 1pm.

Reminder, Wood County Schools will be closed Tuesday, May 14, 2024, for Primary Election Day. Classes resume Wednesday, May 15, 2024.

Today is the last day for students to pre-register for the Emerson Elementary PTA Fun Run and receive a race shirt. Parents are welcome to stop at the school today before 3:30 p.m. to complete their child's registration forms and pay the $10 registration fee. Registrations will be accepted for students up until May 23 but students will not receive a shirt. Registration for the public run will begin at 5 p.m. the day of the race. C&G Athletics will be on site offering a variety of shirts the day of the race for a fee.

The West Virginia Department of Education Office of Child Nutrition and the West Virginia Department of Human Services are teaming together to provide income-eligible students of West Virginia with supplemental food benefits for the summer of 2024. Please check folders today and tomorrow for information about Emerson's Night at the Library event. This event will take place Thursday, May 16th at the Wood County Public Library from 4:30-6 PM.

Just a quick reminder that pre-registration for the Fun Run ends tomorrow. Students who return their registration forms after Thursday will not receive a free shirt. Come join us for this fun event! Adults and non-Emerson students may walk/run for just $20 by registering in the school office or by registering at 5 p.m. the day of the event.

Next week, Emerson Elementary will be kicking off GSA testing with a spirit week. All students are encouraged to participate. Monday: Crazy Sock Day Tuesday: Disney Day Wednesday: "Wacky Wednesday" Thursday: Emerson Spirit Friday: Dress for Success GSA testing will begin the following week on Tuesday, May 7th with reading for 3rd-5th grade students.

Good evening Emerson families. On May 23 our PTA is hosting a 2K Fun Run, filled with fun, laughter and lots of COLOR! Our students will have the chance to run (or walk) around the track prior to a public run at 5:30 p.m. More information about the student portion of this special event will be sent home in the coming days, along with an application to participate. In the meantime, help us get the word out about our public event by sharing this event with friends and family.

Our BOGO book Fair starts tomorrow. Students will get the opportunity to shop for books during their STEAM and PE specials class. We will also have Parent Shopping times after school starting at 3:00 Monday, Tuesday and Friday. You can set your child up with an eWallet using the link below.
