Wood County Schools will resume normal operations for all summer programs on Wednesday, July 8.

The following programs will operate on their regular schedules:

Extended School Year at Parkersburg South High School
Summer Learning at Jefferson Elementary Center
Jump Start at Emerson Elementary School
Energy Express at Martin Elementary School
Summer Speech at Martin Elementary School
The Wood County Schools Summer Feeding Program

Wood County Schools will continue to closely monitor conditions related to the Peoples Cartage Warehouse fire and any potential impact on our school campuses. The safety and well-being of our students and staff remains our highest priority, and we will continue working with local and state agencies to evaluate conditions and provide updates if necessary.

We appreciate the patience, understanding, and support of our families throughout this situation and look forward to welcoming students back to our summer programs on Wednesday.

Wood County Schools is pleased to provide families with access to their students' 2026 West Virginia General Summative Assessment (GSA) results.

Students have received an email in their Wood County Schools student email account containing a personalized link to access their GSA score reports. Parents and guardians are encouraged to work with their child to retrieve the email and review the results together.

The score report provides detailed information about your child's performance and can help identify academic strengths as well as areas for continued growth.

If your child cannot locate the email or is experiencing difficulty accessing their score report, please contact your child's school for assistance.

We encourage all families to review these results and discuss them with their child as part of supporting continued academic success.

9:15-10:45 Kindergarten- 2nd grade
11:45-12:30 PreK
12:30-2:00 Grades 3-5

Lunch will be provided for volunteers in the library at 10:45am. There will also be a brief Title I and PTA meeting during this time.

This is a "Top Secret Day" for our students but we are asking that families please take this into consideration and dress them accordingly. 🎉 Exciting News for Current and Future Students of Madison Elementary!

Oops — apparently we can't count to six! 🙈 We accidentally left three images off our last post, and we sincerely apologize for the confusion. The first three photos are for the Pre-K playground, and the last three are for the main playground. We promise we're better at playgrounds than we are at posting!

On May 13, the Wood County Board of Education approved new playgrounds for Madison Elementary! The playgrounds will be fully ADA compliant, ensuring all students can play and learn together. Check out the rendering below for a preview — please note the building pictured is not Madison Elementary, but simply part of the playground design rendering.

We can't wait for our students to enjoy this fantastic new space!

Hello Emerson families, the side door for morning drop off will be open from 7:30 to 8:00. The side door will be unoccupied starting at 8:00 as staff will need to go to classrooms. Due to snowy and icy conditions impacting a significant portion of the southern part of Wood County, Wood County Schools will now be closed today, Tuesday, March 17, 2026. While some areas of the county may not be experiencing the same conditions, roadways in other areas remain hazardous. Because our buses and families travel across many different communities and road conditions, this decision was made to prioritize the safety of all students and staff throughout the entire county. We appreciate your understanding as we work to ensure everyone can travel safely.
