This message is for incoming Emerson kindergarten parents. Emerson Elementary offers a staggered start for our kindergarten students so make the transition into school a little smoother. Students with the last names beginning with A-K will attend school on Wednesday, August 21. Students with the last name beginning with L-Z will have their first day on Thursday, August 22. Students can be dropped off 7:30-8:00 am and pick up is at 2:30 for non-bus riders. We can't wait to see you!
Great news families- Wood County Schools provides students with all necessary school supplies. Feel free to send your child with a backpack and water bottle.
In celebration of Independence Day, all Wood County Schools' offices will be closed. Offices will reopen on Friday, July 5th.

Good afternoon Emerson Families,
As a reminder, our Fun Run is tomorrow starting at 3 p.m. Students will dismiss at normal time. If your child rides a bus but you plan to pick them up at school for the event, please send a note to school tomorrow morning.
The Fun Run entrance will be set up on the left side of the building. Students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Students will receive their race number at check in, starting at 2:50 p.m. The K-2 run is at 3 p.m. with the 3-5 run at 4 p.m. The run will be six laps around the school track. Rain or shine!
Last minute student entries will be accepted at the school until noon Thursday.

We also want to remind parents that the cut off for students to register to run/walk during the "student" portion of the race is noon tomorrow. Grades K-2 run at 3 p.m. and 3-5 run at 4 p.m. Public registration begins at 5 p.m. with the public race at 5:30 p.m.
We will have extra color for children to throw for sale at the event, along with a variety of t-shirts and freeze dried candy. This is a PTA sponsored event.
Good afternoon Emerson families. We are starting to distribute Fun Run shirts for our pre-paid students. Each student will also have a ticket to bring to the event. On Thursday, students will turn their tickets in at the main entrance for their race number.
We are excited the Emerson PTA is bringing this amazing event to our school. If you would like your child to participate and have not turned in their registration yet, time is running out. Please call the school office to schedule a time to come in to register. There will be no student registration the afternoon of the event.
The general public may register at 5 p.m. for the 5:30 p.m. public Fun Run.
On Friday, May 31, Emerson Elementary will hold the final awards assembly of the 2023-24 school year. 1st and 2nd grade at 9am, 3rd and 4th grade at 10am, and 5th grade will have a special assembly at 1pm.

Reminder, Wood County Schools will be closed Tuesday, May 14, 2024, for Primary Election Day. Classes resume Wednesday, May 15, 2024.
Today is the last day for students to pre-register for the Emerson Elementary PTA Fun Run and receive a race shirt. Parents are welcome to stop at the school today before 3:30 p.m. to complete their child's registration forms and pay the $10 registration fee. Registrations will be accepted for students up until May 23 but students will not receive a shirt. Registration for the public run will begin at 5 p.m. the day of the race. C&G Athletics will be on site offering a variety of shirts the day of the race for a fee.
The West Virginia Department of Education Office of Child Nutrition and the West Virginia Department of Human Services are teaming together to provide income-eligible students of West Virginia with supplemental food benefits for the summer of 2024.
