Wood County Schools' open enrollment process will change for the 2024-2025 school year. All open enrollment requests are to be made beginning January 16th on our website at woodcountyschoolswv.com/enrollment. The enrollment is also available on the WCS app. If your child currently attends a school out of district, or you would like for your child to attend a school out of district, you will need to complete an online application. Although the form is simple to complete, if you feel you may need some assistance with the application process, or you do not have access to the internet or have a device, all secretaries at our schools have an iPad and will be able to assist you. If you child attends the school that corresponds to your home address, and you wish for this to continue, there is no action needed on your part.

Good evening families, Tomorrow is the last day to sign up for the Title I Parent Event February 15 6-7:30 pm. This is going to be a fun event for students and a light dinner will be provided. If you have lost your paper and would still like to come, please send your child's teacher a DoJo message or written note. Also, please remember that we ask that parents to not begin parking for dismissal until at least 2:45 to allow buses access to students. We WILL NOT dismiss car riders until the buses are dismissed. Buses pull out in the back at 3:02. The last car rider is usually dismissed by 3:12. Walkers (students picked up at the side door) are not dismissed until 2:45. Have a wonderful evening!

We kick off Holiday Spirit Week tomorrow! Monday- Grinch Day 💚 Wear Green or Dress like a Grinch Character Tuesday-North Pole Day Wear Red and Green or Dress like Santa, Elves, or Reindeer Wednesday- PJ Day Come comfy for our final day before break.

For the event, you can enter through the main doors or the doors at the bottom of the long outdoor staircase.

Join our PTO sponsored Winter Wonderland tomorrow evening from 5-6. Enjoy Hot Cocoa, Cookies, view our class sponsored trees, and recieve a free book from 5:00-5:30. PTO meeting will begin at 5:30. There will be a short seasonable movie in the library for the students of parents who are staying for the PTO meeting.

Franklin spirit wear orders should have come home today with students. If you have a problem with your order or something is missing please contact the school.

Choir members don't forget to wear your choir shirts to school tomorrow for the school performance. The evening family performance will take place at 6:00. Choir members need to report to school by 5:45. Doors will open at 5:40.

Don't forget PTO meeting tonight at 5:30. Enter through the cafeteria doors near the dumpster.

Dear families, I hope everyone has had a great fall break. I wanted to remind everyone we still have a Top Secret November Event left that your students aren't going to want to miss. Friday, December 1st is our next S.O.A.R Event Day. Students must have earned their 12 tickets to attend. One way students earn a ticket is by being at school on time every day for the week. Good evening families, Just a reminder that spirit wear orders are due tomorrow, November 15th. Also, picture retakes will take place on Thursday, November 16th. If you were not happy with your students photos, send the package back for retakes. Anyone who was absent or didn't have their photo taken earlier in the year will also have pictures at this time. Fall Break is November 20-24. Every year at this time we must fulfill a requirement of the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) of 1986. It is our responsibility to notify in writing, parents/legal guardian, school staff and employee organizations of the availability of the Asbestos Management Plan for each facility. Please find the notification information for your facility on Wood County Schools' web page.

Tomorrow will be our Halloween Parade and Pie the Eye. Visitors may begin arriving at 1:30 and report straight to the track. Children may wear costumes to school for Red Ribbon Week. Costumes must be school friendly—NO blood, gore, or scary costumes. Masks will only be permitted to be worn during the parade. Accessories that include a knife, gun, or other weapon are not permitted at school. Please be aware of children in the background when posting photos on social media. Students will return to their classroom to gather their backpacks. Teachers will bring their class out and line up in the grass, to be signed out. Please send a note if you plan to take your child after the parade.

Reminder, there is no school for students on Thursday, Oct. 26 (Parent-Teacher Conferences) or Friday, Oct. 27 (Professional Learning Day). Classes resume as normal on Monday, Oct. 30.
