Wood County Schools will be closed on Friday, January 10th due to secondary road conditions and single digit morning temperatures.

Due to the additional snow expected for Friday and Saturday, DERC doesn't know if they will be able to have their roads cleared. I am making the decision to PUSH the party to Friday, February 7th 6-10pm. This is the first Friday/Saturday they have available. If you have already paid and can't make this new date, let me know and I will get your money back to you.

Wood County Schools has announced that pre-kindergarten (pre-k) registration for the 2025-2026 school year will commence on February 3, 2025. Children must be four years old by June 30, 2025 (or qualify for special education IEP services). We are continuing to collect for Old Man Rivers Food Pantry and Humane Society until December 18. Items can be dropped off in the office.


Tomorrow students will be watching a movie and having popcorn for our SOAR event. 3-5 will be watching Wild Robot and K-2 will be watching Despicable Me 4. Both movies are rated PG. If you do not want your child watching the movie, please send a note to their teacher. Students are allowed to bring a blanket only and wear pjs if they would like. Pillows or stuffed anumals are NOT allowed.

Thanks to donations from North Parkersburg Baptist Church we have a wide variety of sizes of winter coats. If your child needs a coat, please send Ms. Erin a message on rooms through the Franklin Office class, with the students name and size.

Just a reminder that boys basketball tryouts will last until 4:30 this evening.
Santa Shop starts tomorrow. Shopping day information and envelopes will be in your child's folder this evening. If you signed up to volunteer, come at your time you put on the form and sign into the office when you get to the school to receive your visitor sticker.

Tonight is the PTO sponsored Skate Party from 6-8. All students must have an adult in attendance with them. Non-Franklin siblings and adults will pay $1 for skates.
Also, Dec. 3rd and 4th the MOV Health Department’s mobile dental clinic will be here. Students who do not have not seen a dentist in a year or more may participate. Services provided are cleaning, fluoride treatments and sealants. All insurances are billed including Medicaid. A sliding scale fee is available, but no student will be turned down for the inability to pay. Students will need parent consent to participate. If you are interested, please message Nurse Melissa on Rooms, or call 304-420-9534.

Today is the day that all the student are excited about. Bring them back tonight to learn all about our "Spots." Each student will be creating their very own fluffy emotion spots to take home with them. Each family will books and a parent guide to go with them. Students have been telling teachers all today to remind their families through Rooms. You are not going to want to miss it! The event is from 6-7:30. A light snack will be provided.

We have a very exciting event coming up Thursday evening from 6:00-7:30. Staff and students are ready to share our "Spots" with our families. Students have been working to learn what their emotions are and strategies to help them work through them. Students are having great success with identifying their emotions and we are ready to share with our families. Families that come will be making their own set of spots and receiving books to go along with a few of them. A light snack will be provided. RSVP forms were sent home, but if you didn't send it back ---please come anyways. We are so excited to share them with you!

Tomorrow we kick off Red Ribbon Week. Red Ribbon Week is an annual campaign in the United States to raise awareness about preventing drugs, tobacco, alcohol, violence, and smoking. We have a variety of activities planned throughout the week to help bring this awareness to our students in a age appropriate way.

Monday: Dress as your favorite movie character
Tuesday: Wear Tie Dye or Neon Colors with Sunglasses
Wednesday: Twin Day Dress Like someone else or like a staff member
Thursday: Wear your Costume Halloween Parade at 1:15 Remember no blood, gore, scary, or weapons.
Friday: Dress up as a Little Spot-- Wear Blue, Red, Green, Orange, Purple, Pink, Gray,

Forms will be coming home today for you to check the preferred time for your parent teacher conference coming up on November 4 from 11-6:45. During conferences we will discuss report cards and I-Ready reports. Please fill those out and return them ASAP. We will return the assigned conference time on October 30 or 31.
We are also looking for Parent Volunteers to help with our Fall Themed SOAR stations on October 25. There are two shifts 3-5 in the AM and K-2 in PM. There is a form coming home to return if you are interested in helping with this event. Must have your background check completed to volunteer for this event.
