Good evening families, It was a wonderful first day! We wanted to thank everyone for being patient during dismissal. It will get faster each day. Please remember to not line up before 2:55 to allow for our four buses to get through the gate first. We will start parent pickup dismissal immediately after the buses pull out. Please remember it is Wood County Schools policy that students in grades K-3 MUST have an adult at the bus stop in order to be allowed off the bus. Everyone have a wonderful evening! Our staff has worked hard to prepare for the first day of school tomorrow. We look forward to seeing your students. Please note arrival and dismissal procedures have changed from last year. All students K-5 will be dropped off at the front doors between 7:30-8:00. All students K-5 will be dismissed out the back door. Parent pickup will not begin until AFTER the buses depart.  Parents picking up their children PLEASE do not start lining up until 2:55 to prevent traffic jams on Blizzard Dr. Do not park and walk to the doors to get your child. We will walk them to your car. Walkers and Imagination Station Students will be dismissed out Door 19 at approximately 2:50.

Good afternoon families, This is Mrs. Agee, your new principal at Franklin Elementary. Our class lists for grades 1st-5th are posted on the front doors. We want to invite our families to open house Monday, August 21st from 4-6 to visit your student's classroom and meet their teachers. If you have a kindergarten student, visit both classrooms and plan to join us Friday, August 25th for Kindergarten Orientation and class placement from 8:00am-9:00am. We will see you next week!

SCREENING FOR CHILDREN ENTERING SCHOOL - Screening will be conducted by school nurses and other professionals during regular school hours in Wood County Schools for students entering school for the first time. In addition, students entering parochial or other non-public schools will be screened. Screening will be done to identify problems in the following areas: language, speech, hearing, and vision. Parents of public school students who do not wish to have their child participate in this screening should inform the principal of the school attended by the child. Now Available: Explore the rich history of Wood County Schools through New Era School: A dialogue with Esther Carroll A one-room school building located on the Mineral Wells Elementary School campus serves as a connection to our past. This building, known as New Era school, has been transformed into a museum that showcases the educational community of the nineteenth century. Within the museum, there is an extensive collection of carefully selected materials that chronicle the history of schools in Wood County. The museum is accessible to the general public, offering both individual and group tours, including school trips. In the latest episode of the WCS Voices Podcast, Esther Carroll, a retired library media specialist from Wood County Schools, shares her insights. Ms. Carroll oversees the museum's operations and is responsible for curating historical primary sources and various media. Field Day T-shirt order forms are coming home today. The picture shows the grade level shirts that have been chosen for this year. Families are welcome to purchase a shirt for their child's grade level as well. Please return the forms to your child's teacher no later than Monday, May 1st with the money for the shirts. There will 100's of pieces of artwork created by our students in grades Pre-Kindergarten to Fifth Grade. Music will be provided by the Artsbridge String Quartet. Refreshments are being provided by Duane Nutt's Baking and Pastry class from PSHS. Everyone is Welcome.

Families, If your student is attending Franklin out-of-district, and you did not receive an application for next year this week, please call the school. Applications must be received prior to May 1. We are not accepting out-of-district KG students at this time.
