Franklin family and friends,
I wanted to update you on Brooklyn Arthur. She passed away on Sunday afternoon in Cincinnati Children's Hospital. We do not know the funeral arrangements at this time.
The fire ring fundraiser raised $733.00 and Whitney Wells was the winner. The organizers provided the funds to Brooklyn's mom.
If you would like to help with funeral expenses, you can send donations to Franklin Elementary Center
Attention: Angel Fund for Brooklyn
1511 Division St. Ext.
Parkersburg, WV 26101
Checks are to be made to Jennifer Roton or Jessi Crew not to the school.
Jennifer and Jessi have set up a checking account at WesBanco. They will pay funeral expenses from that account. If you would rather use GoFund Me, a GoFund Me has also been set up by family friends for Brooklyn. You should be able to find it on Facebook. The picture that I posted here is attached to the GoFund Me page. Please continue to keep this family in your thoughts. Please do not contact mom during this difficult time.

Kudos to the students of the Wood County Schools' Elementary Honor Choir for an excellent performance! Enjoy the recording of the live streamed event.

I wanted to thank everyone for the support and generosity that you showed Brooklyn and her family after my last post. Brooklyn is back at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital with her family. The cancer is taking more of Brooklyn each day. At this time, she is not expected to return home. Many of you asked how you could help.
Two parents are working together to coordinate donations. They have set up a checking account that will be used to help Brooklyn and her family during this challenging time. If you would like to donate, you may send money to:
Franklin Elementary Center
Attention: Angel Fund
1511 Division St. Extension
Parkersburg, WV 26101
Please make checks payable to Jessi Crew or Jennifer Roton.
In the memo space, please write Brooklyn.
Do not make checks payable to the school. We cannot accept them.
The family respectfully ask that you not contact them with questions or messages at this time. They want to focus on loving Brooklyn.
Please be in prayer for this family.
Love your children. Take the time to listen, to give an extra hug, to tuck them in at night, to listen to them breathe while they are sleeping. Cherish every minute.

Bus 144 students, we will quarantine students who were sitting within 6 feet of positive case. I am waiting on seating chart information. We will notify you later this evening.

This message involves COVID information related to girls' basketball, bus 144, and Mrs. May's fifth grade class. Please listen and read carefully. Your child has had a positive exposure to COVID and will need to quarantine. The exposure date was August 30. You may have your child tested today or any day this week. With a negative test, they may return to school. We must have a copy of the results. You may fax, email, or DOJO the report. If we do not have a copy, they can not return. If you choose not to test, your child may return to school on Friday, September 10. Please monitor DOJO for more information from the nurse. If your child was absent, did not ride the bus, or was not at basketball try outs on August 30, they do not have to quarantine. We are reviewing bus video. If your child has had a negative COVID test September 4 through today, they may be at school tomorrow. Again, we must have a copy of results. Please email to mtornabene@k12.wv.us.

Due to the number of our positive COVID cases and number of students in quarantine, we are going to cancel our outdoor movie night. Hopefully, we will be able to re-schedule it soon.

If your child rides Bus 128, they have had a positive exposure to COVID.
They will need to be in quarantine. They may be tested on Saturday, September 4. With a negative test, they may return on Tuesday, September 7. If they do not test and do not develop symptoms, they may return to school on Friday, September 10. Please monitor Class DOJO for updates and information. Nurse Melissa will be in contact. Exposure date was August 30. If your child develops symptoms during quarantine, have them tested.
