Today we have two weeks worth of DASH award winners to recognize! The DASH award recognizes students for their character and hard work. Winners are given certificates personalized by the teacher that nominated them and a gift bag courtesy of the Academic Boosters.

The week before spring break our DASH winners were Perry Cumberledge (6th grade), Alivia Bailey (7th grade) and Kendall Gant (8th grade).

Our winners for the first week back after spring break are Alana McGee (6th), Alexa Lara Sakmar (7th grade) and Zoey Williams (8th grade).

Junior and Senior Parents and Students:


Prom tickets go on sale today and will be on sale all next week. Students can purchase tickets during lunch or on the GoFan app. Cost is $25 per person. Students purchasing online will still need to pick up their paper ticket from Ms. Wigal. If students are bringing outside guests to prom, approval forms are due to Mrs. Bryant by April 21 before 3:00 pm. ALL outside guests must be approved. Forms are located outside of Mrs. Bryant's office.

Parents of athletes:

Your student should come to school with all items needed for their evening sporting events. They should NOT be signing out before their team is dismissed for away contests. Our athletes are students first and should not be missing instruction to make a trip home before their bus departures. Thank you for your assistance with this matter.

Reminder to all 9th, 10th, and 11th grade parents and students. We are administering the PSAT and SAT tomorrow morning. All students in these grades will need to be at school on time, with fully charged iPads. Testing will begin at 7:50 and will last until lunchtime. All testing will take place in the downstairs, high school wing. Testing rooms have been assigned for each student. If your student is unsure of their testing room, they can refer to the lists posted outside of all grade level classrooms and on the doors near the upstairs trophy case. Please help us ensure students are set up for success by encouraging your child to get a good nights rest and to eat breakfast in the morning.

Due to some scheduling conflicts, the immunization clinic is being rescheduled for April 16th. This is a great opportunity for those students' entering 7th and 12th grade next school year to get their required Tdap and/or Meningitis vaccine. A consent form is required to participate!

Reminder to parents of 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students. The PSAT and SAT are right around the corner. Please make sure your students are on time and well rested on April 15. This announcement is for senior parents only. Caps and gowns will be delivered here at school towards the end of April. A representative will meet with students during their lunch to hand these items out. Students will have the opportunity to try them on at that time. Caps and gowns will not be sent to student homes. We will send out further communication when the time comes.

Reminder, Students come tomorrow wearing your pink to help spread suicide awareness. You are not alone.

Due to snowy and icy conditions impacting a significant portion of the southern part of Wood County, Wood County Schools will now be closed today, Tuesday, March 17, 2026. While some areas of the county may not be experiencing the same conditions, roadways in other areas remain hazardous. Because our buses and families travel across many different communities and road conditions, this decision was made to prioritize the safety of all students and staff throughout the entire county. We appreciate your understanding as we work to ensure everyone can travel safely.

Due to various road conditions throughout the county, Wood County Schools will be on a 2-hour delay on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

It is not too late to get the consent forms to participate in the immunization clinic.

If your child is going into the 7th or 12th grade next school year, they are required to receive their Tdap and/or Meningitis vaccine. Consent forms are required to participate in this clinic. MOV-Health Department will be on campus Thursday, April 2nd. Please contact Nurse Danielle if you have any questions or would like the paperwork!

All three girls high school basketball teams in Wood County have earned the opportunity to play in the AA or AAAA state championship on Saturday, March 14! Come and join us to cheer on our student athletes!

Important Update Regarding the End of the School Year: We are pleased to share that the West Virginia Department of Education has granted Wood County Schools a waiver for three instructional days. As a result of this approval, the last day of school for students will remain Tuesday, June 2, 2026 — no changes have been made to the previously published school calendar. No further action is needed on your part. Please make note of this date as you plan for summer childcare, activities, and travel. Information for tomorrow's girls game: Fan busses will leave at 7:30 am from the front of the school near doors 1 and 2. Students will NOT be able to go to their lockers before boarding the bus. Students should only bring items needed for the trip. Convention Center guidelines are listed below.

Any student not riding the bus must turn in their game ticket to the middle school office upon return to school. Please make sure the student's name is clearly written on the ticket. The fan bus will not be stopping for food however, there are several food options in the convention center. Students should eat breakfast before arriving to school and plan to purchase lunch at the convention center. Food vendors will accept both cash and card transactions. The bus will return to school between 1 and 2:00 pm.

Discounted game tickets and tickets for the fan bus can only be purchased until 3:00 today. Game tickets are $8. Fan bus tickets are $15, which also covers the student's admission. Tickets for students riding the fan busses will be handed out at the entrance to the convention center.
