It's time for a Scholastic Book Fair! Come shop from October 5-October 11th 7:30-3:30. Wednesday night from 3:00-6:30 we will have special evening hours to help families attend. Find some fun books and help raise money for the library.

Please complete the Student/Parent Technology Agreement to allow your student to use technology in the classroom. Iready math diagnostics begin tomorrow for grades 3-5 on classroom iPads.

It’s a heat wave! Please send a water bottle to school with your child to keep at their desk. Please make sure it has a sealing top and can have their name written on it. Also, girls basketball tryouts tomorrow and Thurs for grades 3-5 from 3-4pm. Must have permission slip.

Girls Basketball tryouts will be held at Jefferson Elementary Center on Wed Aug. 25 and Thurs. Aug. 26 from 3:00-4:00 for grades 3, 4 and 5. Permission slip is required to attend.

DAMAGE WAIVERS: If you opt in, please detach the WCS Optional Damage Waiver from Student/Parent Technology Agreement & submit to the information desk at Board of Education OR mail to MIS 1600 Beverly Street Parkersburg, WV 26101. Forms/money will NOT be accepted at the school.

Parents, please make sure your child AND teacher know which bus they ride to help dismissal go smoothly. Also, Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle from home to use in the classroom.

Good evening. Tomorrow brings much anticipation with the start of a new school year. I am so excited to see our students and employees back in our buildings as we work together to become the # 1 school district in the state of West Virginia. We are so fortunate to have a wonderful community of parents and guardians that understand the importance of a first-class education and are willing to go above and beyond to ensure the success of our students and schools. However, we know there is a lot of work to complete. This summer, WCS has equipped schools with essential personnel for targeted intervention, created a STEAM Academy for middle school students, and continued to upgrade our facilities to provide the most conducive environments possible in our schools. We are very excited to see the new school year begin. I encourage each of you to review our re-entry guidance document located on our webpage at https://tinyurl.com/yhq2qwgb. As you know, directives can change quickly with little notice. I will do my best to communicate changes to you as directives are received. I encourage all parents and students to follow the recommendations in the guidance document including, but not limited to - wearing a mask, staying socially distanced, and practicing good, hand-washing hygiene. As always, I ask for your patience on the first day of school. There are many moving parts that we will continually perfect throughout the year.
