Good evening, Jefferson families, and welcome back! This is Mrs. Lowers, Principal, of Jefferson Elementary Center. We hope you were able to attend the open house last night and meet your child’s teacher. If not, here’s some important information for you.
The doors will open at 7:30 a.m., and drop-off will begin at that time. Students in Kindergarten and Grade 1 should be dropped off at Door 3, also known as the Jag doors, which are easily identifiable by the large red and white jaguar printed on the sidewalk on the Plum Street side. Our staff will be on hand to help unload students and escort them into the building. Students in Grades 2-5 should be dropped off at Door 1 in the main horseshoe. Please make sure your child is ready to exit the car as you enter the drive to avoid traffic backups on Plum Street. All goodbyes, kisses, and high-fives should happen before you enter the horseshoe to keep things moving smoothly.
Once inside, students will be guided to the gyms to prepare for dismissal to their classes. Kindergarten through Grade 1 students will have breakfast in their classrooms, while Grades 2-5 will be escorted to the cafeteria for breakfast. Breakfast is free of charge for all students.
Dismissal for Grades K-1 will begin at 2:50 p.m., with pickups at Door 3. We appreciate your patience as we work to match students with their families. Grades 2-5 will dismiss from the front area, with each grade using a different door. Grade 2 will dismiss from Door 34,
Grade 3 from Door 33, Grade 4 from Door 30, and Grade 5 from Door 1. To accommodate families with students in multiple grades, we’ve staggered the dismissal times—Grades K-1 will dismiss at 2:50 p.m., and Grades 2-5 will dismiss at 2:55 p.m.
Here’s how you can help our staff: First, make sure your child is ready to exit the car when you pull up to drop off. We’ll be unloading 3-4 cars at a time in the horseshoe, so keeping traffic flowing is essential. Also, please ensure your child’s teacher knows how your student will be getting home. If you haven’t informed them yet, contact the school so we can ensure a smooth dismissal process. With around 500 students to reunite with families or place on buses, your patience is greatly appreciated as we work to ensure everyone is dismissed safely and in an orderly manner.
We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow. The adventure awaits- and we have a SPOT for you!
