Wood BOE meets Tuesday

PARKERSBURG - The Wood County Board of Education will meet Tuesday in regular session. 

The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, at the Wood County Board of Education at 1210 13th Street in Parkersburg. The meeting is open to the public and will be streamed online. 

The meeting will begin with numerous recognitions, including students who participated in the West Virginia Music Educators Association Solo and Ensemble, All State Band, and All State Orchestra.

Several employees will be recognized as Wood County Schools Heroes for going above and beyond in service to the schools and community.  

Randall Reid-Smith, Governor's Curator for the West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture and History, at the request of Amy Eschbacher, will present $1,000 to Parkersburg South High School Marching Band in honor of former band director and administrator Thomas Eschbacher who was recently inducted into the state Marching Band Hall of Fame. Reid-Smith also will present a STEAM Power Grant Award to Parkersburg High School for the planetarium.  

The board will receive a presentation from Communications Coordinator Michael Erb on the district’s Crisis Media Plan, and an update on Career and Technical Education programs from Wood County Technical Center Director Jason Hughes.
