Wood BOE meets Tuesday

 

PARKERSBURG - The Wood County Board of Education will meet Tuesday, May 9, in regular session.

The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at the Blennerhassett Middle School auditorium. The meeting is open to the public and will be streamed online. 

The board will receive a presentation on the Ami-John Award from the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation, recognize Missy Maidens as a Wood County Schools Impactful Educator and receive an announcement of the Service Personnel of the Year. 

The board also will recognize Blennerhassett Elementary School students for their model of the new BES addition and receive information on the Classroom to Cafeteria Project at VanDevender Middle School presented by Hollie Best, Director of Child Nutrition. 

The board will recognize i-Ready Completers, the 2023 WVMEA Honor Band, students selected to participate in WV Governor's School this Summer and the Parkersburg High School Science Teams.

In addition to finance and personnel matters, the board will receive a proposal for a new Anthropology/Pop Culture elective at Parkersburg South High School, a presentation on chronic absenteeism, a presentation on Community in Schools, and a proposal for the new Bridges Initiative.
