Wood BOE meets Tuesday

 

PARKERSBURG - The Wood County Board of Education will meet Tuesday, May 23, in both special and regular sessions.

The time of the regular meeting has been moved back to 5 p.m. due to the Parkersburg South High School graduation ceremony planned for 7 p.m.

A special meeting will be held at 3 p.m. for an employee suspension and termination hearing.

Both meetings will be held at the Wood County Schools Central Office at the corner of Plum and 13th streets in Parkersburg. The regular meeting is open to the public and will be streamed online. The employee hearing will not be open to the public.

At the regular meeting the school board will be asked to approve financial and personnel items, including the hiring of an Assistant Superintendent of Academics and Leadership, an Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and an Assistant Superintendent of Operations. The board also will be asked to approve a new Van Devender Middle School principal. 

The Assistant Superintendent of Academics and Leadership and Assistant Superintendent of Operations positions were recently approved by the board to replace the existing Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction and Assistant Superintendent of School Services positions respectively.
