Wood BOE meets Tuesday
PARKERSBURG - The Wood County Board of Education will meet Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023, in regular session at Martin Elementary School.
Martin Elementary is located at 1301 Hillcrest Street in Parkersburg. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. and will be streamed online. The meeting is open to the public.
The school board will receive a presentation of a Memorandum of Understanding between Erickson All-Sports Facility Development Corporation and Wood County Schools. The presentation will be given by Rick Bush, president of Erickson All-Sports Facility Development Corporation, and Betsy Patterson, principal of Parkersburg South High School.
Ashlee Beatty, Director of Curriculum & Instruction, will present information on extended day programming which will allow for tutoring and SAT prep for students at community sites.
Martin Elementary Principal Tom Wheeler will provide an academic report on the school.
Heather Grant, Director of Elementary Education, will present an update on the 2024-25 school calendar process.
In addition to regular finance and personnel matters, the board will consider the paid suspension of an employee.
Prior to the meeting, a student expulsion hearing will be held at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023, at the board office at 1210 13th Street in Parkersburg. Student disciplinary hearings are not open to the public.
