Vienna, WV – Wood County Schools has been made aware of a situation involving a student from Jackson Middle School who made a verbal threat toward other students while riding a bus home today.
School administrators and the Parkersburg Police Department responded immediately. Law enforcement officers have interviewed the students who were the recipients of the threat, as well as the student who made the statement. Following a thorough review, law enforcement has confirmed that there is no credible threat to students or staff at Jackson Middle School at this time.
The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our highest priority. We take all reports of threats seriously and will continue to work closely with law enforcement to ensure a safe learning environment. Appropriate disciplinary action will be taken in accordance with the Wood County Schools Code of Conduct.
We encourage families to speak with their children about the importance of reporting concerns to a trusted adult and remind students that threats of any kind are taken seriously and may result in significant consequences.
