Wood BOE to hold public hearing on facilities plan

PARKERSBURG - The Wood County Board of Education will meet Tuesday in special session to consider the district’s proposed facilities plan.

The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. at Jefferson Elementary School in Parkersburg. The meeting is open to the public, though seating is limited. The meeting will be broadcast via Zoom, though members of the public who wish to address the board are asked to do so in person.

The Comprehensive Education Facilities Plan, or CEFP, is a document which which outline facility usage for the next ten years. The current CEFP expires this year, with the new CEFP running from 2020-30.

The plan includes all new construction and school consolidation as well as upgrades and improvements to existing facilities. The CEFP is a state-required document which also helps school systems plan ahead for funding requests and bond calls.

Officials will review the proposed 2020-30 CEFP and allow for public comment on the document.
