Wood BOE meets Tuesday

PARKERSBURG - The Wood County Board of Education will meet Tuesday (Nov. 23, 2021) in regular session.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the Wood County Schools Central Office at the corner of 13th and Plum streets in Parkersburg. The meeting is open to the public and will be broadcast online via Zoom.

Tuesday’s meeting marks the second and final public hearing on the proposed 2022-23 school year calendar. Three draft calendars have been posted online www.woodcountyschoolswv.com and a survey opened for community members to give feedback on the calendars. The board will vote to accept a calendar during Tuesday’s meeting. 

In addition to financial and personnel matters, the board will consider a recommendation to approve a contract with Pickering Associates to provide engineering and construction administration services for the Williamstown Middle/High Bleacher project.

The board also will vote on moving the 2022 graduation date for Williamstown High School to 3 p.m. Sunday, May 22. 

Prior to the regular meeting, the school board will meet in special session at 4:30 p.m. to conduct two employee hearings. Hearings are not broadcast online and are closed to the public due to employee privacy.
