Wood BOE announces superintendent candidates 

 

PARKERSBURG - The Wood County Board of Education Tuesday announced the names of eight applicants for Wood County Schools Superintendent.

 

The names were announced following a public forum concerning the superintendent’s position during Tuesday’s board meeting. 

 

The applicants are Anderson Avery, Richard Duncan, Michael Fling, John Merritt, Gregory Miller, David Pastrick, Walter Saunders and Christie Willis.

 

The board will conduct in-person interviews with five of the applicants Friday. Those being interviewed are Duncan, Fling, Miller, Saunders and Willis.

 

The board anticipates announcing three finalists following Friday’s interviews. 

 

A second public forum with the three finalists is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, March 28, at the Wood County Technical Center in south Parkersburg. The board will meet in regular session at 6 p.m. March 29 to announce and vote on a new superintendent. 

 

Earlier this month, Superintendent Will Hosafllook accepted a superintendent position with Jackson County Schools, which he will begin July 1. A two-week application period for the Wood County Schools superintendent position closed March 18.
