Wood BOE to meet Tuesday

PARKERSBURG - The Wood County Board of Education will meet Tuesday in special session to receive public input on the hiring of a new superintendent.

The board will meet at 6 p.m. March 22 in the auditorium at Jefferson Elementary Center, 1103 Plum Street, Parkersburg. The meeting is open to the public. 

Tuesday’s meeting will include recognition of Wood County’s All-State Choir students, a presentation on I-Ready testing benchmarks and information on technology upgrades for the school system.

The board also plans to announce and vote on a new director for the Wood County Technical Center. 

The board will invite members of the community to speak on what qualities they would like to see in a new superintendent. 

The superintendent application period closed Friday, March 18. Following public comments Tuesday, the board will hold an executive session to review the applicants. Officials hope to announce Tuesday the candidates who will be interviewed March 25 by the board.
