"I have been so blessed to teach 4th grade with Don Snider at Vienna Elementary. Initially, I wasn't sure how teaching with him would work out as we seemed to be complete opposites in every sense. Now, as kids are counting down the days until summer break, Don is counting down the days until retirement begins, and I know how fortunate I have been to teach with him these last 8 years. His wise sayings that he tells his students have become ones that I have caught myself saying to my own children. Even though we're different in so many ways, we'll often show up to work in matching outfits! Of course, I force him to take a picture with me as he begrudgingly obliges. In 2020, Mrs. Greer single-handedly discovered that our son had a growing issue stemming from a break in one of his legs years prior. Without her diligence, we never would have known! And in 2022/2023, our daughter has dealt with multiple illnesses and even hospitalizations. Both Mrs. Greer and Mrs. Bailey have been beyond wonderful to us during this time. "Hello! As my daughter prepares to graduate, I think back about all of the amazing teachers she has had through the years. Her elementary teachers provided a wonderful foundation and ignited her love for reading, her middle school teachers helped her grow as a writer and helped mold her into the person she is today, and her high school teachers have helped prepare her for college. Mikayla still talks about all of the hands-on activities she did in Lisa Smith’s 3rd grade class so she obviously had a huge impact! Holmes Marty was her 5th grade teacher and she still runs to give him a hug every time she sees him! It was a difficult year for her but having a great teacher with an amazing personality who loves his students and who always went above and beyond made it a lot easier! She describes Beth Trimble as a kind and caring person who builds relationships with students and makes sure each and every one of them know they are cared about and prayed for, and who truly wants to see every student succeed. Brooke Cooper was her 6th grade math teacher and Brooke was a new teacher with lots of exciting ideas! Mikayla has never enjoyed math but she certainly did in 6th grade. She also enjoyed it in 8th grade when she had Alisha Smithberger who truly cares about all students and takes the time to develop a rapport with each and every one of them! I could go on and on because every one of them is so deserving, but here are just a few who have made a huge impact on my daughter. "I’d like to shoutout Mrs. Caitlin Clark at Madison Elementary. Not only is she a great teacher, she supports the kids outside the classroom, too. My daughter had her in kindergarten last year & invited her to a spring soccer game. She sat under an umbrella with me in cold, pouring rain just to watch my girl that weekend. She also came to two tournament games the end of that season. When school started last fall, she asked Kenadi if she was playing soccer again. We gave her the schedule and she showed up for yet another game, even though my daughter is no longer in her class. This meant so much to us, especially to give up her free time on weekends.
