Good evening. This is a reminder that tomorrow, February 12 is a scheduled Non-Traditional Instructional Day. Teachers will have lessons in Schoology by 9:00 a.m. for students to complete. No students will report to school.
Also, our Blended Learning Instructional model has ended. All students (except Virtual, Remote, and Distance Learning students) will attend school 5 days a week in-person beginning Monday, February 15, 2021. Good morning. Wood County Schools will operate on our Remote Learning Instructional plan for Tuesday, February 2. Students are expected to logon to Microsoft Teams beginning at 10:00 a.m. Curbside meal service will be available at each of our schools from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Again, Wood County Schools will be in Remote Learning status for all students on Tuesday, February 2, 2021.

Early this afternoon, the West Virginia Board of Education, in conjunction with the Governor’s Executive Order, voted to give school districts flexibility to return to school in-person, 5 days a week beginning January 19. After I receive clarification from the WVDE on a couple items in the approved motion, the Wood County Schools re-entry plan for January 19th, 2021 will be released tomorrow morning.
Also, I truly appreciate all the communication I have received from students, parents, and our employees with thoughts and concerns regarding re-entry. This is not an easy decision, but a decision that will be methodically analyzed taking into account several factors in our educational system.

However, I fully understand that some students and families are uncomfortable about returning to school in-person. To provide more opportunities for our students, WCS is requesting all students wishing to be instructed in an off-campus learning model, outside of our schools for the second semester, complete the form attached in this correspondence or visit the Wood County Schools website for more information. Depending on the number of students wishing to be instructed off-campus, we may have the ability to offer families and students different choices rather than just the WV Learns- Virtual School program. Today, Governor Justice announced that school districts in WV will be in remote learning until January 15, 2021. Beginning January 19, students in grades pre-k through 8th will be instructed in our schools through in-person learning regardless of the color on the WVDHHR map. If Wood County is Green, Yellow, Gold, or Orange on the daily map, High School students will attend school in-person as long as we do not reach the “Red” status.
If your child is utilizing WV Virtual School for instruction, nothing will change for the next few weeks.
